"So according to this mark we're destined to be together?" Now I was shellshocked. I was 16 years old. I had no friends. I had never once been out into the world until today. One little day. And all I did was move from one castle to another.. And now I was meant to be with someone I had just met? Leon seemed amazing, but what did I know about him? I knew he was right, everything in my body told me he was right. My body said he was right for me, my brain urged me to kiss him before when I hadn't even known him. What if he was snarky and rude like the other royals? What if he was messy and didn't know how to clean up after himself? Ok, that seemed a little ridiculous, I seen his room. I don't know why I had the urge to fight this so much in my brain. I felt almost hysterical, but was it wrong of me to give into this? I was right, I had no friends. Just my parents and servants. And now I had a person who was meant for me, forever? It seemed perfect but at the same time wrong. What would my mother say? Oh god, what would my mother do? What if my mother disowned me? I would disgrace my family, she told me to stick to my classes and room and now I was meant to be somebody's mate?

"Merah breathe!" He said quickly grabbing both sides of my face and turning it towards him. "Merah, it's going to be ok. Just please breathe with me come on, in... now out." I did as he said. I hadn't even realized I wasn't breathing. In that second of realization the balcony fence posts gave away and fell to the ground.
"I'm so sorry, I have no control over my Magik it just happens when I get upset." Tears flowed down my face now. Here I was probably hurting his feelings just like I hurt his poor old terrace.
"I'm not worried about the terrace, I'm worried about you." He pulled my face into his chest and the smell of sage and oak surrounded me. It relaxed me almost instantly, maybe there was something with this mate thing after all. "Are you worried about your mom?" He whispered into my hair, I nodded into his chest trying to breathe in the smell of him some more.
"You don't know her.. this won't end well."
"That may be so, but do you really think she'd start a fight with her only daughter? She can't do anything about it, you know? It's destiny.."
"Destiny it may be, but she will fight this.. I know her Leon. If something isn't the slightest bit her way, she fights for it to change to her advantage. This right here" I touched my hand to his chest, "this could start an actual war."
"Then we'll fight it Merah, whatever it takes. You don't understand this is history in the making, we just changed history. I'll alert my family tomorrow about us and ask that they keep it private for now. All I want is to keep you safe." I pulled back from his chest and seen his devotion truly in his eyes. He leaned his face down to mine and kissed me again, this time no restraints. It was different from the first one. More passionate, more needing, more wanting. I pulled back to catch my breath, my head a little dizzy. "Here, let's head inside before we end up tossing ourselves over the edge of this thing."

He stood up and scooped me up and walked me to his bed. He set me on the edge and started to open the bottle of champagne he carried up from the ball. "I really don't think it's appropriate for me to be in your bed chamber, I am a lady after all." He giggled at that.
"You truly are a lady, don't worry I'm not trying anything, this is strictly a man showing a lady a good time at a ball." He walked over to his armoire and pulled out two champagne flutes, after filling them both he went to a strange machine on his desk and turned on music. "Is that a record player?" Now I really was the butt of a joke, his laughter was so loud I'm sure the party down stairs had heard him.
"No, that's my laptop. You've never seen a laptop Merah?" I shook my head awkwardly as he handed me the glass of champagne. "Do you have anything at home electronic other than a record player?"
"Electronic?"
He shook his head grinning. "Your family really is something. Have you ever seen a cell phone Merah?" I shook my head again.
"Wait, you mean like a telephone? My dad has one on his desk in his office." He chuckled at that, and so I did what I never thought I would do. I drank my glass down in one sip.
"WOW, ok I'm sorry for that. I wasn't making fun of you Merah, I just have never heard of anyone who doesn't use technology. See this" he held up a thin shiny thing and handed it to me. "That is my cellphone. I make calls on this, I even send messages like letters to people on this. They receive it instantly and send me a message back." I stared at him dumbfounded.
"You can send letters through this? I've never written a letter. My mother always wrote to the council, but she doesn't have one of these."
"I honestly thought everyone had one of those. How would you feel if I got you one? Then you can write me letters whenever you like." I nodded smiling probably like a dope, but it was amazing to see such a thing. "Alright tomorrow, and I'll teach you all about how to use it ok? I'll even get you a laptop like that one, you're gonna need it for school." He grabbed our champagne flutes and set them over on his desk.
