Keeping You Safe - Lawlu

The next day, Luffy and Law were still in the same place comforting each other. Law knew Luffy was traumatized by what happened. This meant that he would have to be as gentle as possible with Luffy. Law was fine with that anyway. Luffy would no longer be Laws assistant for missions either. It was too risky as more people are targeting Luffy.

Law felt Luffy raise his head from his shoulder as they were hugging.

"Can we go to your bed?" Luffy mentioned.

"If that's where you feel comfortable, then that's no problem." Law smiled softly.

He picked Luffy up and carried him to the bedroom, careful of his injuries in the process. He rubbed his thumb across Luffys shoulder as he carried him, trying to comfort him. Luffy looked up at Law and wrapped his arms around his neck, burying his face into Laws chest.

"I love you." Luffy whispered.

Law looked down at him, shocked at the sudden affection.

"I love you too." Law replied gently.

They finally got to Law's bedroom, and he laid Luffy on the silk sheets. Luffy felt himself melting into the bed as he got comfortable. The entire room smelt like Law and that was extremely comforting for him. Law covered Luffy up and leaned down to kiss him on the forehead.

"I have some business I need to attend to, but you should rest. I'll be back later." Law said.

Luffy nodded and began drifting off to sleep.

It was quite obvious that Law was exhausted. He had dark circles around his eyes and he was bit sluggish. However, the matter with penguin could not wait. It was so frustrating that penguin betrayed him, and for what? Penguin didn't earn anything but maybe a laugh. It was comical how Penguin thought he could betray Law and earn something. Law arrived to where Penguin was chained up.

"How pitiful." Law laughed.

Penguin looked up from his messy hair.

"Bet Luffy had a great time, huh?" Penguin cracked a laugh.

Laws eyebrows twitched and he kicked Penguin in the stomach, making him bend over in pain.

"Keep his name out of your filthy mouth." Law warned.

"What are you gonna do?!" Penguin laughed, eyes wide.

Law reached in his pocket and pulled out his knife.

"Perhaps I should put you under the same pain you caused him." Law stared at the knife.

Penguin stopped laughing for a moment and started to stutter over his words.

"You wouldn't do that to your dear subordinate would you?" Penguin laughed, obviously nervous. 

"I stopped associating with you the moment you injured Luffy." Law said sternly and walked closer to Penguin.

He grabbed him by the hair, making Penguin look up at him. Law brought the knife to his cheek, slicing it. Law continued to cut small but deep areas around his body, doing the same that he did to Luffy. Penguin had passed out at one point after crying out in pain.

"Doesn't feel very good, does it?" Law reminded. 

Law got up and walked towards the door. 

"Ikakku, kill him." Law ordered and left. 

"Yes, boss." She bowed.

Law entered the bedroom to check on Luffy and found him asleep. He walked over to him and reached his hand out to caress Luffy's cheek. Luffy woke up and looked up at Law. 

"Law, you're back..." Luffy said, smiling.

"Of course, I told you I'd be back." Law chuckled at Luffy's sleepiness. 

"Come here" Luffy motioned for Law to sit next to him.

Law walked over to him and sat in front of him. Luffy leaned over and hugged law, arms wrapped around his neck. Law smiled and moved Luffy to his lap making Luffy let go. Law leaned his head in, and their foreheads rested together. He hoped he didn't freak Luffy out. Especially after what happened. Laws worries were washed away when Luffy looked up, staring into Laws eyes. Law ended up giving in and doing the same.  

"You're so pretty." Law whispered. 

Luffy blushed and embraced Law once again, hiding his face in Laws neck. 

"You don't have to compliment me all the time you know." Luffy muttered. 

"I'll compliment you until you're absolutely sick of it." Law smiled, arms around Luffy's waist tightening. 

"Law...You can just say things like that!" Luffy said, flustered. 

Law watched Luffy as he pushed him away, not enough to get out of Laws lap. Law wouldn't let anyone take this joy from him again. Nothing would harm Luffy anymore and Law would make sure of it. Even if it meant throwing his mafia career away or even his own life. 

All of the sudden, Luffy got a serious look on his face after looking at Law. 

"What's wrong?" Law asked, concerned. 

Luffy got off of Laws lap and told him to lay down. 

"Luffy, what's wrong? Are you okay?" Law was really worried but still obeyed. 

"I'm fine, you sleep." Luffy told him stubbornly. 

"I'm not that tired, it's alright. You need to eat something." Law replied, smiling.

He was extremely exhausted but wouldn't admit it. Especially if it meant Luffy would be in better condition than him. 

"Law, come lay down and hold me for a minute at least. Please?" Luffy begged, ignoring his comment.

Law knew Luffy would continue to beg if he didn't, so he laid down. Luffy joined him and waited for Law to hold him, which he gladly did. It only took about 30 seconds before Law was dozing off. Luffy smiled, knowing he was right that Law was very exhausted.

Luffy and Law both fell asleep that evening and held each other. Taking in the warmth of the other.
