"Ivory?" Cyrus says to himself.

"Did you say something?" Ronan, Cyrus' older brother asks.

"Stop the car and go back, you just passed Ivory, maybe she missed the bus, we should let her catch a ride with us" Cyrus calmly demands. Cyrus isn't the type to be stern, he has always been the soft type. Most would describe him as giving off golden retriever energy.

Ronan rolls his eyes, "You expect me to stop the car and go back for your little girlfriend?"

"She's NOT my girlfriend Ronan, you know that. She's my best friend, and I thought that she was your friend too, have some decency, will ya?"

"She's not my friend, I'm just forced to be around her because of you," Ronan says in the most condensing voice.

"Would you just stop the car and go back?" Ronan politely asks, hoping to get through to his brother.

"Fine if you say so" Ronan smirks, he doesn't attempt to slow down his car, already going about 35 MPH he busts out an incredibly dangerous u-turn, slams on the gas to get to the block Ivory was at, and slams the brakes as hard as he can.

Cyrus gripping his seat, "Are you serious Ronan, are you trying to kill us before we even get the chance to graduate high school!?"

"Oops sorry, you didn't specify how I should turn around" Ronan smirks.

"Hey there, Ivy League" a deep voice calls out for me, in a nickname that only one person calls me by. Ronan Kane.

I look over my shoulder, I don't initially pay him any attention because I'm still frazzled by the fact that I'm soaking wet. As I pay attention to the car, I realize that this was the same car that sped past me and splashed water all over me. I was mesmerized by the beautiful red Mustang that I'd never seen Ronan drive before. The way the paint glistened in the sun, yet the car still looked vintage. You could tell by some of the tiny dings and scratches that it wasn't brand new or in the best condition but that's what gave the car character.

"Oh Ivy League, did you go deaf or something?" Ronan says with an attitude.

"Oh, sorry I-", I tried to say, but was unable to get another word out when I made eye contact with Ronan.

"Hello, Earth to Ivy League".

I looked directly into Ronan's deep blue eyes which complimented his dark brown hair that was still wet from his shower. I hadn't seen him all summer, he was away for football camp.

I was very familiar with the Kane's. Cyrus Kane has been my best friend since elementary school so I had always been over at their house. I never truly paid any attention to Ronan, the countless times that I was at their house he was locked in his room or out with his friends. The only time we did interact was when he would be teasing me. This time felt different, I didn't have my usual dull feeling around him, and this time I wanted to throw up from anxiety.

Even though Ronan and Cyrus were brothers they were far from similar. Ronan is seen as an assertive type and is far from nice to most people that he encounters. Cyrus was nothing like that, he'd had to be the sweetest guy anyone would ever meet.

"Did you seriously speed past me earlier? I'm all wet because of you" I shout.

"Oh, you're wet because of me?" Ronan chuckles.

"Ugh, you're such an ass hole but I'm not surprised" I keep walking my usual route to get to school. My usual disgust towards Ronan was back, all he had to do was speak a few words. I notice their car begin to follow me

"Wait, Ivy! Hop in we're going to give you a ride to school" Cyrus cheerfully says.

I look over at them and think about it for a bit. I love Cyrus, he's my best friend and I know him offering me a ride means well but I just wish that didn't mean getting into the same car as Ronan.

"Fine but only because you're here Cyrus, otherwise I would not be getting in the car," I say, rolling my eyes and crossing my arms trying to make it obvious to Ronan that I'm pissed.\

There was silence between the three of us for some time as Ronan was blasting his music and driving us to school. I decided to break the silence, "Hey, what happened to the minivan that you were driving all last year? '' I ask in a mesmerized tone. I begin to rub my hands against the leather seat admiring how soft and smooth it feels.

"That wouldn't get me very many girls now would it, Ivy League?"

Cyrus turns around to the back seat initiating eye contact with me and we start to uncontrollably giggle.

"Yeah, okay" Cyrus replies in a condescending tone.

"No offense Ronan, as popular as you are I've never actually seen you with a girl before," I say to him.

"Whatever" Ronan mumbles under his breath rolling his eyes.

We get to school, surprisingly on time. Ronan speeds into his usual parking spot that he's been using since he has been able to drive to school. I wonder how he's even legally able to drive with the way he's so reckless on the road.

The other girls on campus start to notice that this Mustang belongs to Ronan and they begin to crowd his car eager for him to get out. Ronan has always had this type of effect on girls and I never personally understood it. I mean from the outside he's a decent-looking guy, 6 '4, messy brunette hair, and fairly muscular, all the physical attributes that could get a girl's attention. If only they knew what he was actually like, then maybe they'd lose interest in him. Besides, whether they were interested or not, I've known Ronan for years and I know that the last thing he truly cared about was pointless attention from girls he didn't care about.

I hop out of the car and head straight into campus to avoid the mess that Ronan's presence creates.

"I still can't believe your parents forced you to take that exam to skip a grade, how will I survive my senior year without you" Cyrus whines.

It's not something that I liked to think about, leaving my best friend a year earlier than I should have because of how hard my parents pushed me academically. "Let's not think about that right now, the school year has just started! Besides, who knows if I'll even get into any Ivy Leagues, if I'm lucky enough they'll reject me all and I can stay in Minnesota with you!"

"Ivy Leagues rejecting you? As if Ivory, if they rejected you, they have to be stupid, your transcript is flawless.

I open my locker to put a few things away when I feel someone lightly punch the back of my shoulder. I turned around as quickly as I could ready to tell them.

"Hey-" I began to say but quickly cut myself off, excited to see that it was Bea.

Beatrix had also been friends with Cyrus and me since elementary school; our bond felt unbreakable and I'm almost certain people consider us the three musketeers.

"BEA!" Cyrus and I say in unison as we both run in for a group hug.

Bea had been gone for the summer, her parents had split up a few years back leaving Bea to go back and forth between her parents. They had decided that Bea's father got major breaks such as summer break, winter break, and spring break. For a while, this wasn't an issue for the three of us because her father and mother had both lived in Minnesota at the time. That was until her father decided to move to New York for a job opportunity. As much as Bea hated school and loved New York, I know she always looked forward to coming back because of us.

"Hey guys, I've missed you both so dearly," Bea says while throwing a wink their way.

I always looked up to Bea, she was always carefree in every way possible, with school, with making last-minute plans, and especially with boys. There were so many occasions when I'd wish I had these attributes but with the way life was for me, it would never be possible.
