When I got up this morning to come into work, I didn't expect for my day to go the way it did at all but it did and that's life, it's un-predictable...and full of surprises.

"Kasey, could you please print me out a copy of the guest list for the Hartz wedding and bring it up to my office."

"Of course, ma'am." Kasey said as she sat down at her desk to get on that.

"Thank you." I told her before making my way on the elevator to head up to my office.

Seems as soon as I sat down behind my desk, a phone call was coming through but instead of it being on my land line it was from my personal cellphone. I sighed and raised it to my face, seeing it was my mother. I take the call.

"Hello, sweetheart!" a small smile graced my face as her lovely voice invaded my ear.

"How can I help you, mom?"

"I was just calling to make sure you checked you mail box for your cotillion invite."

"Yes, mom I checked it and I received the invitation in perfect condition." I told her.

"Lovely! You know honey, we've extended an invite to Mr. Holden and I hope you both get a chance to dance together." she proposed and I rolled my eyes.

"Mom that sounds fantastic and I'd love to keep chatting but I really have to get back to work, you know how easy it is to fall behind when it's busy around here."

"Of course, don't let me hold you up. I love you and I'll talk to you soon."

"Okay, love you mom. Goodbye." I said, before hanging up. I sat back in my chair letting out a steady breathe already exhausted and my day just began. Suddenly there was a knock on my door and I figured it was Kasey with the guest list I requested, so I rose up and walked to the door.

"You're a pea—" I trailed off, realizing it was not who I expected it to be AT ALL.

"Zachariah?" I shrieked, surprise evident in my voice. "What are you doing here?" I asked, but quickly cleared my throat realizing my tone lacked professionalism"...I mean do you have an appointment with me today, Mr. Noble?"

"No he doesn't, I tried to stop him ma'am but he ignored me and walked right pass the desk." Kasey comes jogging down the hall, straight off the elevator.

"It's fine Kasey. Zachariah please come in." I invited him in my office, keeping my cool until we were behind closed doors and away from prying eyes.

"Thank you Kasey, you can go back to your desk now..." I told her.

"But the guest list..." she said, holding up the sheet of paper.

"Bring it back in about fifteen minutes.." I told her and she nod her head. Kasey left and I closed the door behind me with a little more force than usual.
