Around the World in Twenty Chapters

A New Year, A new Challenge

-Emerald City, Los Angeles, USA-
As everyone around the tall tower look up to a large ball, decorated with shear love, which is, in about a few minutes, going to mark a new year for everyone on Mobius. Among the huge crowd of people, is Sonic the Hedgehog, who got lost looking for his friend Miles 'Tails' Prower.

"Tails! Where are ya bud!?", Sonic shouts In an attempt to get the attention of his best bud. Tails, is the only person who knows how to work the mechanisms of the new Year's ball.
Sonic managed to swerve through the rowdy people as the new Year timer clocks Four Minutes until, well, you get it.

"Tails! There you are bud!", Sonic said noticing his friend sipping some fruit punch. "Hey Sonic! Excited for what I came up with?", Tails asked sonic. "Well, seeing what you did last year... Or, this year? The catch is probably a robot music festival made only with paper", Sonic suggested. Tails gave him the most devastated but surprised expression he could. The whole conversation had Sonic and Tails lose track of time, because now it is TWO minutes until the New year begins.

But then, Tails received a major Notification on his Tablet. When he looked down on it, his expression changed drastically. Sonic took a glance at Miles' face and immediately noticed something was wrong. Miles took one look at Sonic, back to his Tablet, to Sonic again and to Tablet once more.

Miles immediately ran towards the new Year's ball tower. The countdown showed about twelve seconds. Tails couldn't get throught the crowd and so, had to fly to the tower, in less than two seconds. As he got to where the tower was mounted. He then began to get the audience's attention, just as the ball began to fall.
"Now I want EVERYONE to stay calm! We might have abit of-", is all the tall, golden fox could get out of his mouth before a loud bag shook the crowd.
It wasn't the ball, it wasn't Sonic, it was-
