Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months and before you knew it
a bond that seemed unshakeable had
turned to crumbles of what it was.

Giving Logan time to settle in to varsity and give her studies priority
was the natural decision to him.

They phoned often talking for hours.
He never gave up hope nor lost heart,
waiting patiently for her to return
as good news spread of a vaccine to
treat the covid (corona) virus.

When Logan returned back home on a temporary varsity break, they finally got to see what lied behind a
a masked face. The two of them spent
some time at the Library and walked
around the neighborhood talking about life, it wasn't as intense as when they met.

Less than an hour together & once during a two week period is all the time they spent together; Logan kept
making excuses while setting up barriers. Clearly she felt like he was
no longer as interesting, she called at
his house the day she was to depart
so she could see him. Ten minutes of small talk is all she could give, along with a hug so cold it shattered hope he believed; perhaps something could evolve into more with whom was his heart thief.

Space was a plain response every time
as she faded away to someone whom
to him had lost intimacy's shine. Oneday a simple question to her was
asked, "do you still have feelings for me ?" and all he got was "only for my ex".

They were never going to date,
Logan admitted that she had to pretend, making her ex jealous and getting over her wounds is why she
used Damian who she now calls friend.
