Kelsey loved Davina more than herself so when she learns about Davina participating in the harvest she turns to the one person she knew would help save her sister's life.
Marcel Gerard the king of New Orleans.
She knew Marcel would gladly help as he didn't want the witches getting any more power.
So once Marcel killed the witches he took both Davina and Kelsey to the church attic vowing to protect them at any cost.
And from that moment on Marcel became their only family.
And from that moment Kelsey finally felt like she belonged.
