I woke up in bed and stretched. I didn't sleep well last night.
"Wake up, Ruby!" mom said "Breakfast is ready!"
I pulled on my school uniform, cleaned my bed and quickly ran downstairs into the kitchen and ate.
"You're energetic this morning," Mom said. "Excited?"
"First day of magic school," I said happily. I finished my breakfast and ran out the door, waving my mom goodbye.
"Hey, Ruby!" some of my friends said when I walked over. We were standing outside the school doors just lying on the grass under a tree for now.
"How have you been?" I asked them all. They all replied positively.
"I've been practicing spells already" Mary said. "And Jane's been practicing making potion ingredients."
"Where's Jane?" I said.
"On her way," Mary said. "She woke up late so I got a head start this time."
"What spells do you know right now?" Remy said.
"I can make things float and burn things," Mary replied.
We turned our heads when we heard tired puffing behind us. Jane was Mary's sister, and she was really smart.
"Sorry I'm late," Jane said. "I was tampering with some potions last night and lost track of the time."
"Silly," Mary said.
"Let's get to our classes," Remy said when a gong rang through the school yard.
"See you guys later!" I said, running off with Jane. We both had potions class today.
