MoMo's POV
I decided to attend the banquet even though I didn't want to; my friends practically dragged me against my will. I cant stand social events where I'm forced to engage in small talk—I'd much rather be at home, doing school work. However, Asia and I have plans to hit up the mall for some shopping. As my phone rings, I hear Asia's voice on the other end, "Heyyyy babes, I'm outside."
"Okay, coming," I respond, grabbing my things and heading outside."Heyyyy," I greet as I take a seat in the passenger side of Asia's car."You ready to go?" she asks.
"Yep," I reply as I fasten my seat belt. She pulls out of the parking lot and starts driving.
"Is Kay coming?" I ask.
"I'm not sure; she hasn't responded in the group chat at all. I texted her, but she's not answering."
"Oh, I wonder why."
"She's probably busy with Emmanuel. Kareem mentioned that he was planning to surprise her with flowers yesterday."
"Ah, that makes sense. How cute!" I gush.
"Speaking of Kareem, how's it going?" I ask.
"Girl, nothing. We're just friends," she smiles.
"Sureee," I laugh. "No, seriously, we're just working on SGA stuff, nothing much."
As we continue on our way to the mall, I can't help but to stick my nose in Asias business I'm sorry but isn't believe there's nothing to her and Kareem.
"Girl come on, spill the tea," I tease. "You and Kareem working on the SGA stuff, is that really all there is to it?"
Asia chuckles nervously, adjusting her grip on the steering wheel. "Seriously, MoMo, we're just friends like be for real.
I raise an eyebrow, unconvinced. "You do know I have known you since 6th grade I know when your lying."
She sighs, "Okay, fine. Maybe I do like him a bit. But I don't even want to think of him that way, Mo. After what happened with he who shall not be named, I am not interested in any relationship right now."
I nod, understanding where she is coming from. "I get that, girl. But Kareem seems like a good guy. Maybe you should give him a chance he might surprise you."
"Yeah, I know, it's just hard. My ex was so toxic. I don't want to go through that again."
I offer her a reassuring smile. "Kareem seems different, girl. Take your time, get to know him better. Maybe y'all should go an a date?" I suggest.
She nods appreciatively, " I'll think about it" she smiles. her gaze focused on the road.
" You're so stubborn ah" I tease.
"Enough about me, how is you and Izaiah" she asks.
"Girll its good, omg how could I forget to tell you yesterday he asked me out on a date were going to go to an arcade I forgot the name then we going to eat" I say with excitement.
"Omg that's amazing" Asia gushes.
"Yess I'm so excited I really like him" I explain.
"Yeah he's a good guy I'm happy for y'all awww I stan Mozaiah" she laughs.
"Wait why don't you and Kareem come with us and it can be double date" I suggest.
"Girll be so serious, no"
"I am serious lets do it you don't even have a choice cause its happening imma text him rn" I gush as I grab my phone and start texting Izaiah.
Earlier that day 6th period.........
Jino's POV
"In conclusion , according to our research, for every hour of sleep you miss at the start of the school term, your end-of-term grades might drop by about 0.07 points. This shows the negative correlation between hours of sleep and school grades. That's all. Thank you" Dess concludes the presentation, earning a round of applause from Mrs. B and the class.
