"The pain that you've been feeling can't compare to the joy that's coming

Romans 8:18.

*flashback*

A year ago at Lakeside Hospital 1:05 p.m

Corey and I were looking for more supplies to finish our art projects in the club. I was able to find some more glue, so I put it in a bag on the floor. I was looking under a few shelves until Corey called my name.

"Bray, Bray, come here!"

"What?" I asked, walking over to Corey.

"Mind telling me who this is?"

"What are you talking about?"

Corey held up my phone revealing a text from a boy I know. It read 'hey beautiful'.

"No one. Just a friend."

He handed me my phone. "Mhm, just know any guy who tries to talk to you, is gonna have to talk to me."

I glanced at my phone before putting it in my pocket.

"Aw, so protective. Don't worry, I'm not worried about a 'boyfriend' right now." I stretched my arms out and hopped on his back.

I love piggyback rides from him.

"That's what they all say." he started walking around with me on his back.

"You don't think you'll get one?" I slightly smile. "A girlfriend I mean."

"Of course not." he propped me up on his back to keep me from slipping off. "What girl would wanna date a guy who looks like this?"

"Don't say that. Everyone will meet that special person SOMEDAY," I exaggerate.

"Sure, but maybe not me...Are you ready to get off? You're getting heavy."

"Oh yeah, sorry." I jumped down from his back, "You're just so tall and I needed a piggyback ride." I shrugged.

He laughed. "Maybe you're just so short."

"Haha," I said, getting irritated, "Seriously though...you never know who's out there that won't care about how you look; which honestly you look fine. I don't know if this is my place but I've been in this group for two years now and you've become like a big brother to me. All those times you comforted me in the funniest way when I was sad about my illness...but you need to have more confidence, Corey. That's why we're in this club, to help us cope with it and not let it affect our lives."

He looked down but I could tell he was thinking about what I said.

He looked back up at me. "Well, come on Bray, they're probably wondering where we are."

I sighed to myself and followed him out of the room.

*Flashback Ends*

Monday morning...

My alarm on my phone goes off and I wake up tapping the screen. It's 6:30 A.M. and it's time for me to get ready for school. School...I have mixed feelings about it. I love learning but man, I can't stand all the homework we are getting. I tiredly get out of bed and go inside the bathroom. After twenty minutes of being in there, I throw on a blue shirt with a flower in the middle, along with a blue, jean skirt, and a dark blue leather jacket. I put on some silver, flower earrings before applying mascara. I head to my mom's room so she can help me with my hair.

Her room is so big and comfortable. I used to want to sleep in here with her every night when we first moved here. She let me but eventually got tired of me and forced me to sleep in my own room. If my blood sugar goes low, I usually come to her room and end up falling back to sleep here anyway.
