For someone who's been at this school for 5 years, it was still confusing to find your classes.

Luxmi's schedule seemed easy for the first semester, potions which was boring, herbology, and muggle studies would be easy for her, there was no way she could fail, and finally, astronomy. The bad side of astronomy was that the classes were held late at night, so you could imagine how stressful it would be to get in work for other classes, but there was nothing she couldn't handle.

Except having 2 classes with the Regulus Black.

Potions were to be expected, she couldn't escape him, but astronomy too? Her favorite class was now ruined by the sight of him sitting on the cold stone floor of the astronomy tower. She glanced at him now and then during the lesson, maybe she could try to find a weakness in him and use that against him if he came near her. Ok, now she felt crazy.

She have had classes with him in the past, but it felt different now, he seemed and looked like shit. Perhaps it had to do with Sirius taking off to her house, away from the thin sharp fingers of Walburga Black. Luxmi had seen her once, in her second year dropping off Regulus. She truly was a horrifying beautiful sight to see.

The first day of classes passed by in a blur, all that mattered was how her first-ever prefect rounds went, with Regulus by her side. Call her obsessed and maybe she was, but there was nothing else slightly "exciting" This was all that existed that seemed interesting to her.

Seeing that she only had rounds twice a week was a relief. Mondays and Thursdays, giving her time to study and do whatever she pleased. Today they had to make rounds on the main floor, giving her a chance to have a reason to check out the library, she hadn't had the time to see it yet, knowing it would look the same but there was a certain feeling she had when she entered it. She hated one thing about being a prefect, it wasn't Regulus but the fact that she (had) to wear her robes, no comfy clothes, just the colorless robes that she disliked.

She decided to make a good "first" impression, maybe Lily was right, coming early did feel good as she leaned against one of the great windows, where she was supposed to wait for Regulus. It would've been a good idea if she went off without him, but she couldn't risk getting in trouble so she stood and waited. He came right on time, 8:30 pm, on the clock, she added to the mental list of reasons why she hated him, so far she had ten.

"Potter." Regulus stiffly greeted her, no smile or sense of welcome but a cold wave that shivered through her bones.

"Black." She nodded, saying her words short and calculated, it was hard to believe that the Luxmi Potter wouldn't spend hours thinking of what conversations she would start with him, not wanting to make a mistake or offend him accidentally.

No words were said the entire time they made rounds, only catching one student who tried to bribe them with some sweets, a classic, stealing from the kitchens. "We're good, but it is tempting." She joked to the student, a 2nd year Hufflepuff. Regulus glared at her at how she was trying to joke and be kind, it was no time to be kind when you had responsibilities. "20 points from Hufflepuff, now go," Regulus said calmly, she had turned to look at him in disbelief. How could you give this sweet child that punishment, okay maybe he did break a rule but it was for a good reason! Those candies were hard to find, it was always finished at dinner.

After the child quite frankly ran off looking so scared, before Luxmi could say anything, Regulus was already walking off without her. "I hate fast walkers." She mumbled to herself before running off to him until she found herself walking at the same pace as him. "So.... what do you like to do?.." She said, trying to use one of those conversation starters but her mind went blank. He glanced at her "Reading, you?" His voice was calm, he reminded her of the calm before the storm, how peaceful the water is, wishing you could swim in it, and if you do, you would be suffocated in it before the storm even came. He was incredibly annoying her by not being what she thought he would be like. Surprisingly he didn't cuss her off like she thought he would, but his face showed no emotion.

Compared to the other countless times she's caught sight of him, none of them have been this close, not side by side as if they had done this millions of times. She could see how colourless his skin was, and not his usual look but he'd gotten paler, he probably hadn't slept in days considering classes just started. She often wondered how it was in the "Noble House Of Black" Was it cold and lifeless as if the happiness had been sucked out of it? She knew a little bit about how it was, from what Sirius told her, it was no good. She didn't even realize she was staring at him as they walked until he cleared his throat, causing her to look away embarrassedly.

"Do you play quidditch?" He asked looking straight ahead. She almost had to take a double take to see if she was hearing him correctly, Regulus Black asking her a question that didn't offend her? Incredible. "Oh no, but my brother does, he's the-" She said proudly before he cut her off. "-seeker and captain of Gryffindor? Yeah, I know. You haven't ever tried out?" He said glancing at her. Being academically good was way better in her opinion, she dreaded sports of any kind, liking to cheer on her friends instead, no matter the weather. "No, not my kind of thing." She said. Her voice came out strained, finding it hard to talk to him, either because he was a boy, a Slytherin, or both? He nodded and the silence overtook them again, right until rounds ended.

"I'll see you tomorrow." Was all she could manage to say, not even checking his expression as she walked on her way to the Gryffindor tower. She could do this, maybe- it wouldn't be so bad talking to him if she got to walk off without hearing what he had to say.

She decided that prefect duty was the worst, walking around for hours with awkward silence but it did feel nice to talk to someone. If it was Regulus.

shreyapeaks!

I hate to say it but the chapters will be quite short! Trying to prolong their friendship a bit but I like how this turned out! Luxmi being the supportive proud sister of James and Regulus, does not care about it
