"You can't be f###ing serious." Aiden said under his breath as he inched forward.  "Layla, come here."

He turned back to look at me before saying my name.  "Layla, won't be going anywhere with you or Dominic."

Dominic snarled revealing deadly rage. Then a bulking male stepped from the trees clad in his tux.  He was enormous even in his human form.

"Dominic," the man said looking to him for answers. Then to the male standing before me.  "Jaxson, what seems to be the problem?"

Jaxson, his name circled through my mind and something in me hummed with satisfaction at knowing it.

Dominic's eyes narrowed on the hulking male beside him.  "Alpha, it seems your son is confused.  He thinks for some reason that my mate is his."

A furious roar burst from Jaxson's chest, and he backed up, his skin now flush against mine.

Aiden's furious gaze turned to Dominic now in confusion, he shook his head slightly as if to dispel the lie from his own ears.

I recoiled at the thought of Dominic, yet I didn't know the male standing in front of me.

Jaxson's stance was unwavering, his certainty unshaken. "She's my mate," he said again, his body shaking with uncontrollable rage. "I felt the mate bond the moment I laid eyes on her. If you challenge my claim again, I will rip you apart piece by piece. Then anyone who stands in my way."

Alpha Jonah turned to me, his voice soft now that he was addressing me. "Has Dominic claimed you in anyway physical or by any other means?"

Dominic's gaze softened as he looked at me, pleading, concern etched in his every feature as if begging me to play along with his rouse. Aiden stood silent, his posture tense, ready to spring to action.

I shook my head, denying Dominic's claim.

Alpha Jonah nodded and stepped forward with a bearing that commanded respect. His voice, authoritative yet tempered with a sense of diplomacy, addressed the tense situation. "As alpha here, I kindly ask you and your pack to leave our lands. Failure to do so will be seen as an act of war, and I think you know how that will end, Dominic."

Dominic's body stiffened, his eyes flickering between Jaxson, me, and Alpha Jonah Delphi. The weight of his words was clear, and the unspoken threat hung heavy in the air. With a curt nod, Dominic signaled to Aiden and the rest of his pack. It was a silent admission of the situation's gravity and an acknowledgment of Alpha Delphi's authority.

Aiden cast a long, lingering look at me, his expression a mix of concern and unresolved questions before he reluctantly turned to follow Dominic. The tension among the pack was palpable as they retreated, the understanding that this encounter had irrevocably changed the dynamics between the packs.

Once Dominic and the rest of the pack had disappeared into the forest, Alpha Delphi turned his attention back to Jaxson and me. Jaxson's posture relaxed slightly as he turned back to me.  His breaths began to slow and he rested his forehead against mine as he closed his eyes.

"We need to go back to the house, son." Jonah Delphi's words were full of concern as he looked at us.

Jaxson using the tree, pushed himself off me as though it physically pained him to move away from me.
