Horace POV
We drove past the large apartment building where I was dwelled in for almost a year now since I bought it for my personal sanctuary. For a couple of minutes past neither of us said anything. Monterey remained silent as her head leaned on the window.
The streets were full of lights and quite busy. Some men and women kissing on the roadside. Not dirty at all, well if they can't wait, find a room and do the fucking business you know. My eyes darted from the street to Monterey, Precisely I wanted to scold her for not showing earlier for the exaçt time we supposed to meet. She is really difficult to deal with. Quietly I groaned at her side. This woman definitely got on my nerves. It seems like she's not feeling well and she look so bad. Seeing her like that I really feel guilty for dragging into this situation. Why my father did this to her, what I mean to the two of us. I know my father is up to something big. George and Mensch shared a secret which was hidden from everyone even me. Then I heared Monterey coughing and sneezing not just once but a couple of times, shit, this is not normal anymore. I cleared my throat to broke the silence, "Rey are you alright?" she did not answer and at the same time never tried to look at me.
"Rey!" I yelled as the car slowed down from its full speed. "I know there's something wrong, tell me, were not going to dads house if you continued coughing and sneezing just like that."
I hastily stop the car and turned towards her. I reached her forehead and place my hands on it. "Crap Rey you have a high fever." The temperature is higher than normal our body had.
I said angrily. "Oh come on, Rey why didn't you tell me."
" I want to end this matter with you." She muttered weakly. "Rey I'm sorry, its my fault."
George fault, his the one insisted this marriage. Stupid marriage I supposed to say.
Monterey began to shake involuntarily as with cold."Your shivering Rey I cant let you bring there like that you need to rest, were going home." I gave her a quick passing glance over her face before I turned my gaze back to the street. She is paler than normal. "This is no good," I murmured to myself." Rey hang on there, I'll bring you home, my apartment is not far away."
I removed my sweater and tossed it to her."Take it Rey, don't be stubborn, it helps to lessen the cold." I sighed in relief after she took it without hesitation."We turned around and droves right straight to the condo." Monterey remained quiet and never bothered to fight with me. So the main thing here was the fact why she oddly behave that way is that she was badly sick. For the first time I appreciated how really strong she was at hiding it from me which I wasn't never notice how sickened she was until it revealed on its own.
I stepped out first then open the window for Monterey to help her to get out . Shes sleeping, I shook her." Rey come on wake up were here," I said worriedly, But still sleeping, her pink lips turned pale more paler like ."Oh my...she fainted why I didn't notice it earlier." Adrenaline rush through me ,now that she was unconscious I have to take her to the hospital but its too far away, Instead I lifted her and carried into my room. She's too light. Definitely too light.
"Dr. Swan how is she?" I asked my personal doctor."For now, she need to rest and don't worry about her its not dangerous, its just a fever and maybe she experienced a minor stressed. Make sure to let her take the medicine on time." A pleasant and relaxed feeling splash onto me, after being heared it from her, I feel relieved."Thank you Dr. Swan." A physician and at the same time a common friend of mine.
She's the one I immediately called out if I got sick."Yeah don't thank me Ashton. She will be fine soon," Dr. Swan said, and smiled at me like she sense something odd from me. I smirked, "what are you smiling at me like that?"
