Katie's POV

I was wearing a gorgeous dress that complemented my curves aptly, one that I had bought a few weeks ago, specifically to wear on my birthday.

As I stepped into the luxurious ballroom, I took in the breathtaking sights in front of me. The opulent and elegant ballroom was decorated just the way I like, elegant and aesthetic. The opulent chandeliers, the cushioned chairs, and the spacious ballroom were all dedicated to me. It was such a pleasant surprise. My friends were such talented actors and actresses that I didn't even get an inkling of what was to come.

Everyone exclaimed "Happy birthday Katie!!!" Adrian's parents walked over to me and engulfed me in a warm embrace, the embrace was filled with parental love and warmth, one I'd longed for since I lost my parents. I'd finally found the parental love I'd craved for almost my whole life. Lilian ran to me with her tiny little feet, making grabby hands at me, gesturing me to carry her. I chuckle at her diminutive charm as I lift her into my arms. She asked me "Did you like the surprise, Katie? It was so hard not to tell, but Adrian told me that it's a secret, and made me promise not to tell you so I couldn't tell. Mommy said it's not good to break a promise." she pouted cutely and the rest laughed at her cuteness while I just hugged her tightly.

I gently put her down and Adrian walks over to me and his mother confesses endearingly, "You know, this whole surprise was this loverboy's idea. He kept talking on and on about how he wanted u to have the best birthday you've ever had. My boy is smitten by you." Adrian's cheeks flushed a deep shade of red as he shyly addressed "Momm, she wasn't supposed to know this was my idea. Anyway, thank you to everyone for helping me plan and execute this surprise."

He then engulfed me in his loving embrace and his father responded "Of course son, she's our daughter too. She means a lot to everyone in this room and we are more than glad to have played a part in this."

At this, there were tears of joy cascading down my face as I spoke with a voice laced with gratitude, "I am so appreciative of all of you present in this room. Without you all, I would have been in the depths of despair all my life, with no way out. Before I met everyone present in this room except for Stacey since we have lived in the same neighborhood since we were kids and are childhood friends. I was adopted by my parents' close friends who lived in the same neighborhood as Stacey so thankfully I didn't get separated from her after my parents passed away and still had Stacey in my life as a beacon of light. Then, in high school, I met Ace, Adrian, Emma, and Ross, you all became my rock, you have changed my life in ways I could never have imagined before I met you. Then when Adrian and I got together, I found the love of my life and the icing on the cake was that I found a real family in his family. You took me out of the shreds of darkness and became a guiding light just like my parents would have been if they were still alive. Thank you all so much for being the kindest and most supportive people in my life. I hope to make many more memories with all of you. I am so touched by this surprise, I just expected us to have a small gathering but you all made this an unforgettable birthday with this surprise" Adrian pulled me close again and pressed a lingering kiss on my forehead

We all settled down on the Cushioned seats and started eating our lunch. It was my favorite, Italian cuisine. There was a myriad of dishes to choose from, with what seemed like an endless buffet spread featuring Italian dishes, soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, and gelato. My mouth watered at the delicacies laid out. This was going to be the best birthday ever!

Just when I thought my birthday couldn't get any better, the friendly hotel staff brought out a special surprise- my birthday cake. It wasn't just any ordinary cake; the print featured an image of my deceased family with a grown-up me. Seeing a picture of my deceased family with a grown-up me,  struck a chord in my heart, and before I knew it I had tears streaming down my cheeks. It wasn't solely because I missed my family but a mix of grief and happiness to discern such a poignant image and the touching gesture from my loved ones, who knew how much this meant to me.

Adrian pulled me into a comforting embrace upon seeing my tears. He, too, understood that these tears were not just expressions of sadness but also carried the weight of gratitude and happiness as he soothingly rubbed my back and kissed my tears away.

Little did I know, this was not the end of the surprises they had in store for me, there was one surprise remaining and it was the most memorable of all.
