PERCY

The sound of arrows hitting targets traveled to Percy's ears as he saw a girl nock an arrow that was lit on fire. She released the arrow and it hit the middle of the target. She looked so familiar but he couldn't place from where.

"That's one of the best archers in camp." Luke said, pointing in the girl's direction. The two walked up to her as she shot another arrow.

"Amelia!" Luke called out. The girl turned around and smiled at Luke, her honey-colored eyes fell to Percy and he was stunned. The gaze felt so familiar.

"This is Percy Jackson." Luke introduced, with some jazz hands towards Percy.

"The kid who killed the minotaur? You've got to be kidding." She laughed slightly. Percy furrowed his brows.

"What does that mean?" He asked, annoyed.

"Nothing." She shrugged as she placed her bow down, She then crossed her arms.

"So, Perce, who's your godly parent?" Amelia asked.

"Don't call me that, and I don't know." Percy replied, slightly glaring at her. This girl was starting to get on his nerves.

"Amelia's a child of Apollo, so she's pretty good at archery and healing. Stuff children of Apollo are usually good at." Luke said, sensing the tension. He gave a nudge to Percy as he pointed to a rack with bows.

"You should try, maybe you'll be good at it."

Percy hesitated to grab a bow and grab an arrow. Amelia offered to light up the arrow, but Percy shook his head.

"I wouldn't." Percy's form was so bad it made Amelia cringe.

"Here. Move your arm a little like this." Amelia moved next to Percy as she moved his arms. She used her foot to widen Percy's stance and pointed the bow so it was actually aimed at the target. As she was doing that, Percy breathed in as he saw how close she was, all he could smell were strawberries, or maybe it was the field?

Percy was so lost in a trance that Amelia had to wave her hand in front of his face.

"You there, Perce?" Percy suddenly let go of the arrow causing him to fall back suddenly, and sending the arrow to a group of campers.

"Should I try again?" Percy asked from the ground. Chris and a bunch of other campers yelled no, as one of them almost lost their head.

Luke ushered Percy to the forges, Amelia tagging along.

"The Hephaestus kids are here often," Amelia grabbed goggles, as Luke gave Percy an apron, gloves, and a pair of goggles. "Maybe you'll be one of them."

One of the Hephaestus kids handed him a sword, and Percy hit it a few times before the sword split in half and was flung inches away from Amelia's hair.

Luckily, Amelia ducked before it hit her. She glared at Percy.

"What was that for! It's like you want to kill someone!" She said angrily, she stood up and walked to Percy looking like she was about to strangle him.

"Hey, woah there." Luke said pulling Percy back so he was out of Amelia's reach. Percy hid behind Luke as the older boy calmed her down.

After that, almost incident, the trio realized it was time for lunch and headed down to the pavilion. Amelia sat with her half siblings, while Percy sat with Luke and Chris.

"Is there a greek god of disappointment?" Percy asked as he played around with his food.

"Maybe someone should ask him if he's missing a kid."

"Oizys, but she's a goddess." Chris replied. "And her whole thing isn't really disappointment, it's more like failure."

Luke gave him a reassuring glance, "We're gonna find the thing you're good at. I know it." A bell chimed and both Chris and Luke stood up.

"Our turn."

"Our turn for what?" Percy asked but also stood up.

"Burnt offerings." Percy looked at them with a confused face.

"The gods like the smell," Luke replied. "So it gets their attention before you say a prayer."

"They like the smell of burnt mac and cheese?" Percy said still confused.

"They like the smell of begging." Chris chuckled at what Luke said. "You burn what you miss the most."

"Then they know you really mean what you're about to say, so they listen."
