The Swayamvara

Such was the irony of love,

A Princess was borne by the fire,

For the thunder's son, prior.

Her father's wish came true.

A dark skinned, dark eyed,

Slender waisted, bow armed maiden forged.

With fragrance of the wild blue lotus,

And mind full of Vedic knowledge, she emerged.

Such was the irony of love,

She was born for him,

Who was considered dead,

Plotted by his own cousin.

Such was the irony of love,

To win her was his deed,

Only to have her with his brothers,

That was her fate indeed.

Such was the irony of love,

Her swayamvara was sound,

The grandiose arranged,

Awaiting the best groom around.

She stood with regality in her hold,

Her skin glowed with an enticing grace,

In opulent silks of crimson and gold,

Making every present heart race.

The Kindhura stood high,

The spinning target lay tame

Intimidating, challenging the brave,

All the others failed. What a shame!

Such was the irony of love,

His identity hid in a brahman's disguise,

While she was decked in royals,

A Princess to be precise.

Such was the irony of love,

From among the brahmans' crowd,

He stealth forth, a bull among men,

His face flashing valour, so proud.

Such was the irony of love,

Flexing the string,

He lifted the great bow,

It's 'twang' rang a unique ring.

Such was the irony of love,

His eyes flicked to the Supreme one - to His,

A silent consent passed,

Reflecting mirth and a tease.

He then glanced at her,

A spark of love - oh so raw,

A soft breeze of hope,

An ocean of togetherness, he saw.

Such was the irony of love,

He aimed for the fish's eye,

Releasing the tensioned string,

His arrow struck - a bullseye!

Such was the irony of love,

Burst out the entire Panchal

In such an shaking uproar,

Cheering for the youth with all .

Such was the irony of love,

She came forward,

Her smile so soft and coy,

The fire in her eyes, he saw,

Bridled her shy.

Such was the irony of love,

They were pronounced as one,

The garlands adored their necks,

But the marriage won't be a regular one.

Hello dearies,

Thank you for reading! <3

This was my first try at writing anything publicly. I'm just 15 and trying to better myself. I would really appreciate your comments even if they are short or silly. I always look up to a word of advice to improve myself.

I'm a boards student and I'm supposed to be studying instead of doing this stuff 🙈(literally). This piece was purely instinctive and untimely.

Byeeee
