In his little back room that he had lived in for longer than he would have imagined, Terran put on his new armor. The armor that his grandfather had made fit like a glove, and the little details caught the light of the candle in his room delicate, sparkling in the dark. Everything was almost over. The pain was almost gone. Terran could not wait to be free.
As he readied himself for the night, nerves making his fingertips tingle, he heard The King open the door to his office.
"It's... interesting for you to come at this time," Terran heard through the door. "What brings you to this place, and how did you learn of its existence?"
"My god sees all."
Terran's breath hitched. He recognized the voice of Widow Corine. She moved across the office and sat in Terran's usual chair. The King followed suit, and soon they were settled. Terran pressed his ear up against the door in hopes of hearing more.
"Is there something I can do for you?" The King asked.
"I want to help you."
"With what?"
"Your cause. The Embassy must fall."
"Now, I don't want to destroy our government."
"You and yours will break it down from the inside and build it up better. Every forest needs a fire to start new growth."
"How do you plan on helping us?"
"With numbers. My followers are willing to fight and die for the truth."
The King chuckled. "What is it that you know of truth?"
"What is it that you know of Justice?"
The King paused, intrigued by what she had said, and Terran heard him shift in his chair. "What does your god do for you?"
"She sees all that exists on this earth, and then blesses me with visions."
"Only you?"
"As of now, only me."
"Seems... sketchy."
"Do you want my men and women, or would you rather go into battle with your band of thieves alone?"
"I think you underestimate my numbers."
"I think you underestimate my magick."
The King said nothing for a time, thinking on his words. "How am I supposed to summon your god's soldiers?"
"We will come when my god sends us."
And with that, she stood and she left. Terran's hands shook. He had been under the assumption that only The King's cards held magick, so who was this crazy woman to claim she wielded something just as powerful?
