The young Vidyadhara stared at Dan Heng with much curiosity. He felt rather uncomfortable, but reluctantly met her intense gaze once he and Y/N caught their breath.

"Why hello there, Dan Feng!" she giggled excitedly.

"I'm not Dan Feng," he frowned to the girl, who only felt more compelled to persuade he was mistaken.

"Huh? You look just like him though! You even have the horns and the-" she paused to look behind him.

"Where's your tail?" she questioned with wide eyes.

"All Vidyadhara have tails!" she placed her hands over her mouth to convey her shock.

Dan Heng awkwardly bit his lip and avoided eye contact, not wanting to talk about it.

"That's funny, I swear I saw him with one earlier-" Y/N hushed herself when a shy Dan Heng gave her a pleading look with his cloudy jade irises. His cheeks held a hint of blush from embarrassment.

'I need to stop letting this man sway me so easily,' Y/N sighed inwardly. That look was going to be ingrained in her imagination tonight for sure.

The lilac haired child's shining blue-green eyes stared up at her expectantly, waiting for her to continue.

"I suppose he just doesn't have one!" Y/N shrugged casually.

"I was on the verge of passing out so perhaps I was merely seeing things," she explained, trying to divert her from the tail topic.

"Oh," the kid stated dryly.

"I hate to burst your bubble grown ups, but I'm not stupid," her demeanor became serious as she crossed her little arms.

"I'm guessing you've reincarnated, but tail or no tail, you are definitely Dan Feng. Or, you were I suppose," she closed her eyes in thought.

"However, I'm sure you felt a connection to me. It's impossible you haven't," she continued.

"You're right. I have," Dan Heng admitted.

"And do you know why that might be?" she opened her big blue eyes once more, raising her brow at him.

Dan Heng took a moment to think. Her presence felt powerful for a child. For her to be capable of manipulating her surroundings with illusions was no simple feat either. She felt so similar to himself, but something was off.

"You're Dan Feng's successor," he realised.

"Correct! I'm your successor. But my power is rather limited."

"The succession wasn't completed?" this explained the strange 'missing' sensation he felt from her.

"Yes. The other Vidyadhara Elders attempted to revive Dan Feng so he could remain as the High Elder. Clearly, it didn't work. That's why both my succession and your reincarnation are incomplete," she explained as simply as she could.

"Hang on, I'm so confused! What's this High Elder reincarnation stuff about?" March tried to swallow all the new information she had received. Yet none of it fully made sense.

Y/N was just as lost. Dan Heng never talked about himself, not that she'd ever force him to. However, she couldn't help but feel jealousy simmering within her. A random kid seemed to know more about him than herself, and she didn't like that.

She evaded Dan Heng's eyes, who were now staring at her with concern. Her facial expression must have changed on instinct, and he took notice of it.

'Those damn eyes should be illegal,' she felt her chest tighten and her heartbeat increase as he continued to look at her.
