chapter 2- returning to the ark

** shadows pov **

I watched as sonic started to burn up in the atmosphere

It was a horrible site to witness
But I needed to leave my super form was fading

I grabbed both of sonics gloves and grip them in one hand and turn back to go back to the ark

I quickly moved towards the ark and took one last look at the glowing bright spark in the distance, he was a hero he was bound to glow bright. . .

I entered the ark my super form completely gone as if I never had it to begin with

** rouge pov **
There was the sound of the door opening and I see shadow standing in the door way griping somthing tight in his hand as if he was scared to lose it, he took a couple of steps into the room and i walk over to him to ask him some questions

"Shadow, wheres blue?"
I asked wondering why he hasn't followed behind shadow when comming into the room

He glared at me and put his hand out, I put my hand underneath and he dropped what was in his hand my eyes open wide to what I saw, both of sonics gloves

By now everyone has stopped talking and had there attention on me and shadow, tails walked up towards us and looked at us both we couldn't tell him what had happened he would be so hurt, but we didnt have to. . .

** tails pov ** (whoa 3 povs and not even 300 words In)

I stopped talking with eggman once I heard the door open and I watched rogues and shadows interactions, shadow dropped something in rouges hand and it shocked her so I got curious and went over to them.

I looked at both there faces to try and understand whats happening, shadow wasnt showing much reaction he never seems to but then I looked at rouge, she was shocked and hurt at the same time, I felt worried because I hadn't seen sonic so I looked down at rouges hands to see something white . . .

It clicked

Sonics gloves

He always has them

My ears lower and rouge noticed that I had realized what had happened

"Sonic. . . Did he?"
I said slowly towards them both

"He did, he saved the planet but at the cost of his own life. . . Your brother was a hero miles"
Shadow said to me

i couldn't believe what i was told

Amy walked up behind me after hearing what i was told, i turned to face her and she rapped her arms around me tight, i started to cry, the tears were painful and warm

"I. . . I need sometime. . . If I need anyone I'll come looking.."

I said in between sniffles and tears and leaned up off of amy and left the room

*Amy's pov*
I watch tails leave the room And look at rouge and shadow,

"So. . . Sonics actually. . . Dead?"
Shadow nodded at me
My ears lowered
"How?. . . How is this sonics end?"
I said hurt and confused

"His ring count was low and he didnt have the energy to fly back to the ark, it felt like his actions were performed from his emotions as if he feel that he had done all he had to do."

Shadow said to us,

"It shouldnt of been him, I completed Maria's last wish so I have no other goals, I should be in sonics place as we speak."
Shadow continued to speak

"Shadow please dont say that. . ."
I say to him
"You saved the planet and I'm sure you can find another goal to complete, your just as important as us! Your not a machine programmed to just follow orders! Please. . ."
I said well holding back more tears

He starred at me
"Shes right you know shadow, just because you were given a goal and completed it doesnt mean it's your end"
Rouge added
And I continued this speech of reassurance
"Sonic never really had a end goal he just went with what he thought was the right action for him to do, and look how far hes came! Hes made many friends, become a older brother to tails, and even protected the nature and saved the planet on multiple occasions, not everything has fo follow a set plan. . ."

He looked at us both taking in the speech we gave him
"I see. . . I'll take in into consideration"
He turned and walked to the direction of the door and left the room.

"Hey amy, I think we should tell the others"
Rouge says referring to eggman and knuckles
I nod at her and we walk over to them to inform them with the unfortunate and unexpected news
