Everyone was having a hard time adjusting to the appearances of mutants across the globe, many even rooted for their elimination. If you were to be a mutant, you would be quarantined and possibly executed due to no one knowing how to get rid of the mutation, not even knowing where it came from. But, the only one who kept the world stable, was All Might!
He was the world's shining star of peace, a symbol. I always wanted to be just like him, but sadly.....
Not all men are created equal.
Japan, downtown
At the playground, these two boys were playing superheroes together, Katsuki and Izuku. They both dreamed of being superheroes, unlike their parents who believe heroes are just a bunch of attention seekers. The two boys would hop around and dash through the sand in joy playing some game about being heroes, since they live in a close but small neighborhood, everyone could stay connected.
"C'mon, Izuku! Let's play heroes!" Katsuki suggested, "Sure, Kacchan!" Izuku said, "I'll be Mighty Boy, All Might's trusty sidekick!", "And I'll be King Mighty, All Might's partner!" Katsuki said, the two put on some capes and ran around again. Some other kids joined them, eventually all of them making a full fledged game of heroes.
And, it would always go like that, Katsuki suggested something, and no matter what, Izuku followed. The two were inseparable, ever since they met, until...
At the local preschool
The kids were all drawing and playing with building blocks, but Katsuki's hands began to sweat, then, Katsuki's pencil slipped out of his hands and he failed to grab it, "No!" Katsuki yelled out, a small pop was heard from his palm. Others noticed, Katsuki raised his palms and glanced at them, then, more pops came from his palms, small little fire crackles came from him. Before Katsuki could fear being seen as a freak, everyone began to show amusement and awe from his new found 'quirk'. "Woah, so cool, Kacchan!" Izuku said from beside Katsuki. "Whoa, you have a...power, Katsuki! That means you could become a hero!" From all of the attention, it got to Katsuki's head, creating an ego, worse, it made Katsuki believe he was greater than everyone.
"They're right, I am awesome. In fact, I'm more awesome than all of them, I'm the greatest!"
Later, at the doctor's office
Izuku and Inko were visiting for the monthly check up, normally, all of the status came in as normal, but this time...
"Ma'am, your son is double jointed in his pinky toe." The doctor said, "Oh my, how hasn't those results come up before." Inko asked, "The form of his foot is finally showing the toe's full length, revealing the deformity." The doctor explained. "But now, for serious matters." The doctor had their attention.
"Your son contains some sort of mutation, but not the one that grants a meta ability." The doctor said. "Then, what is his mutation?" Inko asked, "The mutation is basically a disease, it'll feed on his nutrients, making him scrawny, and it may get worse over time, until he becomes sick and crippled." The doctor said. Inko was left shocked and broken hearted, while Izuku sat there in curiosity of what it all meant, "But, mister. Will I still be able to become a hero?" Izuku asked. "Sorry kid, it's hopeless for you. You might as well....just stay put, cuz', you can't." The doctor's answer broke Izuku's heart.
Once they returned home, Izuku was left in his room, rewatching a video of All Might's first major appearance, crying his eyes out hopelessly. Inko walked in to try and comfort him. Izuku faced her, his eyes full of tears, seeing him in this caused Inko to burst into sorrow and guilt, and she hugged Izuku tightly, apologizing over and over, becoming a broken record. Izuku was left to sit there, alone with his thoughts.
The next day at the park.
Even after the news, Izuku came to the park, he kept himself determined, that he could still become a hero, once Katsuki saw Izuku, he asked what game they should play. Izuku said heroes, Katsuki didn't like Izuku's response, "A hero needs powers, Izuku. And sadly, you're just not it." Katsuki shoved Izuku to the side while walking over to the other kids who also had mutations. Izuku followed behind Katsuki again. The more Izuku kept following Katsuki, the more it pissed him off.
As weeks went by, Katsuki went from teasing Izuku to bullying him. Beating him up, calling him names, leaving him at dangerous spots, and so on. But still, Izuku followed Katsuki as that was his first, and somehow only friend...
...
Ten years later
Over the years, the bullying got worse, but Izuku kept enduring it all, and kept his dream close to his heart. Izuku was looked at as an outcast, due to so many following Katsuki's lead, even teachers would snicker sometimes.

Izuku was walking himself home, after another day of school, but then, Izuku unzipped his backpack and ran into a bush, then, he came back out in an All Might jumpsuit with a hood, then, he put his backpack on and began to stroll around the neighborhood. "Oh ma'am, do you need help!?" Izuku saw an old lady drop her groceries, he helped her collect the food and the lady thanked him, "All in a day's work, ma'am!" Izuku said as he went around, looking for someone else to help. "Even though my body isn't made for it...I will still try,...
to become a hero!!!"
Meanwhile, downtown
