Mystics University. A high-profile college mostly for magical beings. And I, Wayne, (an ordinary human, by the way) was somehow able to land a spot.
I stood in front of my new dorm. Suite #42. I looked around at the hustle and bustle of mostly canines.
A few minutes ago...
I walked aimlessly around the entrance of the campus. I found a guy who looked like he worked for the school. Well, his clothes matched the university's colors. I approached him and said "Um, hi. I'm Wayne. I was just wondering where I'm supposed to go."
He smiled brightly. His teeth were... sharp. Like a shark's. "Alright. My name is Resty! Let's see, Wayne... Wayne..." Resty looked at his big tablet. He beamed, looked up from his tablet, and said "Ah! You're in the Canine Department. Suite 42." He gave me my keys. "Welcome to Mystics University!"
"Um, hold on." I gave the keys back. "Why am I in the Canine Department? I thought there was an entirely separate area for the humans?"
Resty looked concerned and confused. "Oh. Well, you're going to have to take that to my superiors."
Chuckling, I nervously said, "To... to your superiors? Aren't you supposed to like, know why a human isn't situated in their designated area?" Resty seemed more helpless than me. I felt a little bad about how worried Resty looked.
"I-I'm sorry... I'm not well-suited for handling humans... your name's on the list. The list says 'Wayne: Suite 42, CD'."
I sigh. I give Resty a thankful smile. "Yeah, I guess. Thanks anyhow. I'll just ask later once I'm settled in." Wayne walks off only for Resty to call for him.
He turns to Resty. "Your keys!" I forgot that I had given the keys back to Resty. I quickly rushed back. God, how embarrassing...
"Oh!" I chuckled embarrassingly. "Yeah, I... I'd need my keys. Yeah... thanks!" Resty smiled politely as I waved goodbye.
Back to the present...
I took a deep breath before inserting the key into the doorknob. To my surprise, I bumped my head against the door when I tried going in. I tried the doorknob again. Much to my dismay, I had locked the door instead of unlocking it. Why was the dorm door unlocked anyway?
I mumbled "Great... Another embarrassing moment." I unlock the door and go in. It was super plain. Beige walls and a wooden floor. A couch and coffee table in the middle of the common room with black fur all over it. "Huh..." I dropped my stuff and wandered around the room. "Guess one of my roommate's here already."
I continued exploring my new place. The bathroom already had toiletries all covered in black and beige fur. "Huh. My roommate sheds a lot?" Once I left the bathroom. I saw a sliver of what seemed to be a tail enter a room. "Hello?"
I stood in front of my roommate's room. I knocked softly. "Hello? Are you in there?" Silence.
"... If I say no, will you go away?" Finally, a voice emanated from behind the door. It was a little deep and gruff.
"Um... n-no. I don't think so." A sigh could be heard from the other side. He opened the door and boy oh boy. I didn't expect him to be so tall and... wolf-like.
He was about six and a half feet tall, easy. Gray fur with lighter gray accents on his forearms. His (which doesn't make sense with how furry he is) is gray with red accents. What got me a little spooked was the fact that the white of his eyes was black and his pupils were copper on top that faded into a gray at the bottom. And that wasn't the part that bugged me the most.
I stuttered out "You... you have horns." Bewildered, I looked at the two small and sharp horns atop my roommate's head.
"What do you want?" He glared down at me. I felt a shiver from all over his body.
