The tension was greatly felt as soon as the teacher entered the classroom, it was as if she dropped a bomb on everyone as soon as she entered. The atmosphere was heavy and the students couldn't believe they would sense that kind of fear within their nonchalant teacher
.
.
.
.
.
"Open your books to page 149 and read until page 160" Karina says as she takes out the textbook from her bag and looks at the students, they all immediately avoided her eyes and opened their books
.
.
.
.
.
"Something's really off with her today... I can't quite put it... But it's kind of... Intimidating..." Ryujin whispers and Giselle nods her head, their gazes turn to Winter who hasn't said anything... She was staring at her table
.
.
.
.
.
"Miss Kim where's your textbook?" Karina asked and it made Winter jump in her seat, she looks up to meet the teacher's eyes and fumbles to get the textbook out of her bag. The cat's out, the teacher knows of everything... She could only lay low for awhile
.
.
.
.
.
"Something's even more off with her" Giselle points out and Ryujin stares at Winter who struggles to flip through the pages of the textbook
.
.
.
.
.
Taeyeon passes by the classroom and she looks through the door to see everyone quietly reading, even her daughter. She turns her eyes to Karina and gets startled as she sees the girl staring right back at her despite the door being mostly closed
.
.
.
.
.
"Karina?" Taeyeon calls out and the teacher stands up to greet her
.
.
.
.
.
"Uhmm... Let's talk for a bit" Taeyeon says and pulls the teacher out
.
.
.
.
.
"Is it something important?" Karina asked and Taeyeon scratched her nape
.
.
.
.
.
"It's about Winter... She's... Avoiding me now and I was wondering if... You could help me? I want to talk to her but she hasn't spoken to me... Since that day" Taeyeon says with a bit of hesitation, she meets Karina's gaze and the girl gives her a sigh
.
.
.
.
.
"Why me?" Karina asked
.
.
.
.
.
"Well who else do I ask for help? You know I can't ask your siblings..." Taeyeon replies and Karina raises a brow
.
.
.
.
.
"What about your kids? You have 2 other kids" Karina replies
.
.
.
.
.
"That's the thing... I think Winter has already told them, they also won't talk to me" Taeyeon says and Karina sighs
.
.
.
.
.
"Well I mean you did kind of put yourself in this situation... Blame yourself, then ask me again" Karina says as she walks back into her classroom, leaving Taeyeon in the hallways dumbfounded
.
.
.
.
.
"Have you finished reading?" Karina asks as she enters the room and closes the door behind her
.
.
.
.
.
"Alright, I want you all to write an essay about what you've read... Put your textbooks here in my desk" Karina says and the students look at her
.
.
.
.
.
"Ma'am? You want us to... Put our textbooks at front?" One of the students asked and Karina grabbed her glasses, putting them on
.
.
.
.
.
"Yes, that's right... Now put them here, I don't like repeating myself" Karina says and the students do as she says
.
.
.
.
.
"Winter Kim" Karina calls out but the girl was too zoned out
.
.
.
.
.
Karina walks up to the students desk and slams her hand on the table, snapping Winter out of her dazed thinking
.
.
.
.
.
"Miss Kim I have told everyone to put their textbooks on my desk, snap out of your little daydream and put your book there" Karina says and walks back to her table while Winter follows behind her to put her textbook on the table
.
.
.
.
.
"Your essays need to be finished once the bell rings so that's... Atleast 40 minutes" Karina says and Winter gulps as she goes back to her seat... She was screwed... She didn't read a single word from that book and now she doesn't know what to do. She turned to her friends but they were already busy writing and she could only take out a pen and paper... Only to stare at it for the whole duration of the class
.
.
.
.
.
"Alright, pass your papers and head to your next class" Karina says as the bell rings, she looks at her watch before compiling the student's works. She grabs her bags and heads out
.
.
.
.
.
"Rina! Where are you headed?" Irene asked as she spots Karina walking the opposite direction from the teacher's lounge
.
.
.
.
.
"I'll be in the detention room! My grading sheets are there, I'll check these papers there as well" Karina replied and Irene nods at her. She makes her way to detention and settles her stuff down onto the table
.
.
.
.
.
"Phew... More grading" Karina whispers as she looks at the papers, she grabs her grading sheet and reads through every single paper in the pile... She finished her work with the second to last, bell ring. She slumps back in her chair and sighs
.
.
.
.
.
"Shit... I skipped lunch" Karina muttered and looks at her grading sheet, her eyes land on a blank space and she furrows her eyebrows as she fixes herself on her seat to look at the papers, she looks through her table... She could've sworn she didn't miss a single paper. She looks at her grading sheet again and follows the line leading up to the name... Kim Winter
.
.
.
.
.
"Ofcourse... Ofcourse... God damnit" Karina cusses out and puts the grading sheet down
.
.
.
.
.
"Great... Just great" Karina stands up and heads out, she goes to the teacher's lounge and checks the student schedules before walking to the Math Class
.
.
.
.
.
"Excuse me..." Karina knocks on the door before opening it slightly
.
.
.
.
.
"Oh? Miss Karina? Is there something you need from our class?" The male teacher asked and smiled, Karina clears her throat before looking at the students
.
.
.
.
.
"Not something... Someone... Could you excuse Miss Winter Kim, sir?" Karina says and the teacher looks at his class before nodding to Karina
.
.
.
.
.
"Miss Winter Kim" He called but the student didn't respond, Giselle immediately taps her friend and Winter looks at her
.
.
.
.
.
"Sir Jeno is calling for you girl" Ryujin whispers and Winter's eyes widened and raises her arm
.
.
.
.
.
"Miss Kim, Miss Karina is looking for you" The teacher said and Winter couldn't feel more helpless than she was now, she heaves a heavy sigh before grabbing her bag and going to the door. She opens it to be greeted by Karina who was leaning against the wall
.
.
.
.
.
"Come with me" Karina says and Winter could only follow behind her, what was she supposed to do? It's not like she had a choice... If she tried to escape the teacher would only get more angry
.
.
.
.
.
"You didn't turn in your work earlier, I can't leave an empty space in your grading sheet Miss Kim... It's either you're gonna give me your work or I put in a zero" Karina explains as they walked towards the detention room
.
.
.
.
.
"Uhm... I... I didn't write anything..." Winter replied and Karina rolled her eyes, she enters the room and goes to pick up her grading sheet before looking at Winter
.
.
.
.
.
"So I'll put in a zero— why do you have your bag with you?" Karina asked as she now noticed that the girl was carrying her stuff
.
.
.
.
.
"I thought you were putting me in detention because I didn't turn in my work? Isn't that why... We're here as well?" Winter asked, confused
.
.
.
.
.
"No! I only excused you to ask about your work" Karina replies and looks at the student... Now she was curious
.
.
.
.
.
"What have you been thinking about that you're all over the place today? You spaced out in my class and I could tell you were spacing out in Math Class as well" Karina asks and Winter was taken aback, she didn't think the teacher would ask so directly about it
.
.
.
.
.
"If it's about your mother, for the love of god Winter just talk to her" Karina adds and Winter furrows her eyebrows
.
.
.
.
.
"Why do you keep acting like you know everything!? You're keep sticking nose where it shouldn't belong" Winter snaps but Karina remains unfazed, she slams the paper down on her desk and removes her glasses
.
.
.
.
.
"Why do you act as if it's my fault? If it weren't for you acting like a little bitch then I wouldn't be sticking my nose into this mess in the first place" Karina replies and Winter stares at her
.
.
.
.
.
"Damn you" Winter says and Karina sarcastically gives her a smile
.
.
.
.
.
"That's a weak provocation" Karina says and Winter clenches her hands into a fist
.
.
.
.
.
"Yeah? Well why don't you show me—" Winter stops as the teacher grabs her shoulders and forcedly sits her down onto the chair, stares right into Winter's eyes before leaning her face closer
.
.
.
.
.
"What was that? You want me to show you real provocation?" Karina asks and Winter's eyes quivered, she unconsciously tears her gaze away from the teacher
.
.
.
.
.
"You can't even fucking look at me and you try to threaten me? Aren't you the big bad of this school? Where's your bad now?" Karina asks and grabs Winter's jaw, forcing the girl to look at her as her nails dug into the girl's skin
.
.
.
.
.
As soon as Winter's eyes meets Karina's it was like the whole world had finally caved in and Winter starts tearing up, Karina immediately pulls away in shock as she sees the girl's tears flow down her cheek. She grabs a handkerchief from her pocket and puts it on the girl's table
.
.
.
.
.
"I didn't mean to..." Karina mutters as she watched Winter take the cloth and sob into it
.
.
.
.
.
It felt as though water had been poured onto Karina... It's been awhile since she'd gotten so aggressive, she'd already scared the girl at dinner but it took her by surprise to see the girl cry, it wasn't like she didn't make students cry on a daily basis before but after everything that had happened to her... She controlled her anger to subdue herself... She didn't want another Hyunjin case to happen... It was why she tried to look nonchalant during her first days, she didn't think that she'd turn back to her old ways and yet here she was
.
.
.
.
.
"Just... Keep crying... If it makes you feel better" Karina tries to comfort the student but it comes out off, she grimaces at her own choice of words before leaning on her desk
.
.
.
.
.
"That was too much... I'm sorry about that" Karina says and Winter wipes her tears before looking at the teacher
.
.
.
.
.
"Why are you even saying sorry now" Winter asks and Karina loosens her tie
.
.
.
.
.
"I don't know okay?... I don't... Know how to handle these kinds of situations without... Force" Karina replies, feeling embarrassed that she couldn't even comfort a crying girl with normal methods
.
.
.
.
.
Karina looks at Winter and now she sees the red mark on the girl's cheek, she looks at her hand and closes her eyes before sighing
.
.
.
.
.
"Does it sting? My nails dug into your skin..." Karina asks and opens her eyes, Winter puts her hand on her cheek, grimacing as she touched the bruise
.
.
.
.
.
"I have a band aid here, just a sec" Karina says and rummages through her desk, she grabs the band aid and rips it open. She gets closer to the girl and gently holds her chin, turning her face so that she could see the bruise better
.
.
.
.
.
"I didn't mean to put that much force... I couldn't control myself" Karina says as she places the band aid over the bruise and gently pats it down
.
.
.
.
.
Winter doesn't reply and only lets the teacher help her... She couldn't help but wonder how these gentle hands were the cause of that same bruise... It felt like a different person. She unconsciously grabs Karina's hand and rubs her cheek against the teacher's palm, feeling her warmth and gentleness. Karina's eyes widened as the student closed her eyes and rubbed her cheek on her palm, she stays still until Winter's eyes shot open and looks at her
.
.
.
.
.
"Oh! Oh shit!" Winter quickly lets go of the teacher's hand and turns away
.
.
.
.
.
"I didn't know you had this side to you" Karina joked and Winter felt her face heating up from embarassment
.
.
.
.
.
"It was just... Your hands were soft and warm—" Winter stops as she realized what she was talking about and her head turned in horror to see Karina's flustered expression, they both weren't expecting that kind of reaction from each other...
.
.
.
.
.
"You're quite... Adorable" Karina remarks and Winter felt that her whole body was being drained of blood from embarassment
.
.
.
.
.
"Uhmm... Since you're already here, do your work for my class so I can fill this in" Karina diverts the conversation as she heard her own words from the silence that Winter gave her
.
.
.
.
.
"R-right... I'll do that..." Winter replies and takes out a pen and paper, Karina clears her throat and wanders her eyes around... Not sure of what to do
