Y/n had been in and out of meetings all day, I've been by her side through them all. She's whispered her opinions and thoughts to me, always double checking to see if I'm comfortable in any new environment we step in, it made me feel a lot safer with the older woman. She was 2 years older than me, I was 28, making her 30. She was taller than me, and as I have mentioned before, it was slightly intimidating. But it only made her hotter. I had a thing for older women (who doesn't), and being in Y/n's presence was a real struggle.
Especially when she was a very sweet and caring woman towards me. I won't lie, she's the dream girl to someone. She's beautiful, smart, caring, mature, responsible, successful, and not in money but in her business as well, it's one of the reasons I admire her so much.
I would never personally ask her out on a date, but if she ever asked me, I would say 'yes' faster than the flash. Although I'd like to fantasize about that, it would be best to tune in on the professional conversation happening right now.
"Sign this, this, and this. And you'll be on your way, Ms. L/n." An unfamiliar man spoke, Y/n nodding at his words as her hand moved elegantly, signing her name perfectly on the dotted lines. "Great, this meeting is dismissed."
Y/n stood, me grabbing her leather bag and jacket as I followed her out of the room, her heels clicking with every step she took, I could see a few people scatter out of her way and sight. They were scared, they had every right to be, honestly. Y/n had a reputation, a reputation of firing people. It made her business one of the most impossible companies to apply to. Lots of the workers there question how I got into the business and have now moved up the ranks within a year to be her assistant. I sometimes question it myself.
A lonely barista who went home to her dogs every night went to becoming an assistant of one of the most powerful business woman in the world overnight. What is my life honestly? Not real, to be honest.
"Ugh." Y/n groaned as she collapsed into her leather chair behind her desk. She arrived in her office shortly after that stupid board meeting and I can already tell my boss was exhausted. She hadn't said a word to me since we left, only exchanged glances. She suddenly sat up, rubbing her eyes to awaken herself. "Hailee." She beckoned for me, causing me to shuffle towards her, setting her belongings down on the futon by the door.
"Yes ma'am?" I questioned, my voice filled with a touch of shyness in my tone. She smiled tiredly up at me, gesturing for me to take a seat. I did without hesitation.
"Would you mine sorting those files for me? Alphabetical order would be great, please." She explained in a sleepy tone, closing her eyes out of frustration and stress. I nod my head, my heart aching for how tired she is. I stood from my seat, grabbing the small stack of files that sat on top of a metal filing cabinet. Kneeling down, I began to categorize them in alphabetical order like she asked for.
I felt her eyes on me as I did this, my hands delicately flipping through the pages to determine what section it does in. My heart was racing as I could feel her stare burning into my head. I swallowed the lump in my throat, it tended to form when someone's gaze was on me. It made me nervous.
It only took me about another 15 minutes to fully complete my first ever task. I stood up proudly, dusting my hands off as I approached Y/n, she looked extremely tired, but not once did her eyes leave me. I should know. I felt then burning into me. Like I said... if looks could kill. Although, I'm not one to talk. Call my crazy, but it would be hot if she killed me. In my opinion, at least.
"You're quite fast, Hailee." She spoke in an impressed tone, running a hand down her face as she licked her lips. I smiled shyly.
"Thank you, ma'am." I'm guessing all my skills came from my high working ability as a barista, which I still am, but my job as an assistant overrides it. I hope no one else becomes the barista. "It was actually quite easy, I thought of it as placing online orders in alphabetical order for customers." I spoke highly of my old job, I did love the little coffeehouse that I worked at. I had made some good friends there, my boss wasn't nearly as amazing as Y/n is but she was pretty fair when it came to things. If I had one bad thing to say about that place, it would be the customers. We usually handled lots of druggies from a couple alley's over, we were placed in a bad neighborhood. But it was a way to make money so I suppose that it did the job.
"You never fail to impress me, Ms. Steinfeld." Her finger tapped against her chin, her voice a little distant in thought as she stared into the abyss. I smiled and slightly bowed playfully at her praise. It was true, each time I had something 'impressive' to say about myself or what I did. I always saw it as something everyone can do, but I am apparently wrong.
Y/n stands from her desk, slowly walking towards me. I don't dare move, I remain still in my spot, not moving my head but my eyes followed her movements. Her hand clasped into my jaw gently, forcing my eyes on her. I hated eye contact. With her, specifically. It wasn't that her majestic eyes were horrible to look at, it was that I would become too much of a blushing mess if I looked at them for too long. And that's kind of what was happening now.
I could feel the blood rush to my face, my breathing picked up. If it was noticeable, Y/n chose to ignore it. "You're fragile, innocent." She spoke soothingly, her voice was of an angel's. It guided me away from any darkness. "I must protect you." She seemed to have muttered to herself, although to me, it came out as incoherent. I tilted my head in confusion but she waved it off, looking at me like I was an adorable puppy. Which I technically was for her. "Don't let anyone change you, Hailee. I like you the way you are." Was all Y/n said before she let my jaw go, her hand lingering down my neck as she made her way back to her desk.
My heart thumped against my chest, closing my eyes for a brief moment while I caught my breath. I cleared my throat. "Yes ma'am. I won't." I promised as she pushed her reading glasses up on her face, slouching slightly as she looked through a slightly bigger stack of files than the ones I sorted through.
"Drive home safe. And get plenty of rest." She ordered as she licked her finger, helping her to flip the page. Her tone carried an effect on me. Her nature presence and aura had an effect on me. Who was I kidding?
"Thank you, Y/n." I thanked as I waved the older woman one last goodbye before I grabbed my bag from the hook beside her office door. I walked down the series of halls till I reached the parking lot where my private spot was. I was quite tired, but part of me wished that I had stayed with Y/n. I could've helped her. Lord knows she's a lot more exhausted than I am.
