The next day at work I entered Y/n's office only to find her not in her usual spot. No one — other than me — was allowed to enter the office without permission. Y/n's absence was strange so I began to look for her. Searching down the hall of her office, it led me down to a bit of a smaller room. I opened the door only to slam it shut when I saw Y/n — my boss — shirtless with a black Lacy bra on. I quickly slammed the door shut, closing my eyes even if she was behind the door.
"I'm sorry!" I quickly rushed out, stumbling over my words as I waddled away from the door, taking a seat on the leather futon by the front door of the office.
Y/n soon made her way out wearing a floral button up, her sleeves rolled up with a cashmere vest over it. "You're okay, Hailee." She chuckled as she waved me off with a small gesture of her hand. I covered my eyes again, turning my back on her as I cowered away in embarrassment.
I heard footsteps approaching me from behind before I felt two soft hands reaching for mine, pulling them away from my eyes. Y/n stood before me, a warm and amused smile on her face as she tilted her head at my behavior. "I'm sorry for being a perv."
She laughed again shaking her head as well as she held onto my hands, her eyes never leaving mine. "You're more like an accidental pervert. You didn't know I was changing and I didn't think you'd come looking for me." Y/n explained in a soft tone, reassuring me every second even if I still felt guilty.
"I'm still sorry." I whispered shyly up at her, my eyes now averting to the ground where my shoes were. Y/n hooked her finger under my chin, pressing a gentle kiss to the back of my hand — that she was still holding — while keeping that warm smile on her face.
"It. Is. Okay. Hailee." She emphasized each word after a small pause to get it through to me. I blushed at the contact and the feeling of her soft lips on my skin. So soothing. "You want to make it up to me?" She joked while I nodded my head with a small smile. "Okay, well, I could use a coffee. My usual. No one here makes it better than you can."
That made my heart do a thing.
"Yes ma'am." I nodded my head at her orders as she watched me leave the room without another word being shared between us before I made my way down my old route to the coffee machine, I still knew exactly how to do it. To be fair, it's only been 2-3 weeks since I was promoted as her assistant. I couldn't forget my barista skills that easily, are you kidding me?
After getting her requested order fulfilled, I made my way back up, passing Brian — Y/n's executive of planning. He basically makes all the dates of when we see the athletes and where we want them to have their photos taken.
"Here you are, ma'am." I say and set the coffee down on Y/n's desk which caused her to smile up at me, her cellphone pressed between her ear and shoulder, talking to someone on the phone. I patiently waited as I walked over to the futon and took a seat — in the distance I could hear my boss.
"I'll be home soon, hon." Hon? Who the hell is she calling hon? "We could go out for dinner, you know. We don't always need to stay in and cook when neither of us have the best experience." She joked with a chuckle. I felt my heart drop as I think about the possibility of it being her husband (or wife) who's on the other line with her. "Then it's settled. Let's go to Applebees, haven't been there in a while."
That's a restaurant you take people to on a date, right? I haven't been on a date in forever so I wouldn't know. I watched as Y/n hung the phone up and turned her attention towards me.
"Where was I?" She muttered to herself as she flipped through her pages. "Oh, and thank you for coffee, Hailee." Y/n thanked as she glanced up at me real quickly with a small smile flashing my way. I slumped back in my seat after muttering a 'you're welcome' back to my boss.
I knew I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up on her being single.
