"Are you sure about it? Mom and dad always told me not to enter their lab when they are away, no matter what!"

"Of course I'm sure! As usual, they are keeping all the best secrets away from us! Like we're not skilled enough to give all those spells and potions a proper use. We're not cubs anymore!"

"But... It's not too far from the truth! I mean, after all we're just teens, and we've finished only the first class of chemistry and practical magic usage."

"Hey! We're here because of your curiosity, remember? You were the one that asked me to break into the lab, so we could just dwell around. Or maybe you are chickening out?"

"Of course I'm not!" A 12 year old female snow leopard with bright, purple eyes and black & white hairs, with ponytails on both sides of her head, made a frustrated expression on her muzzle, crossing arms. "I don't want us to get punished, or mess up anything in the lab, that's all! Also, your dad won't be happy when he'll find out that you skipped today's class in the library!"

"Yeah, you're definitely chickening out." A cougar male - being at the same age as his snep friend - chuckled, examining the heavy, wooden doors with his paw pads, and ignoring words about his dad. His eyes were the same color as leopard's, and he had an unusual black, thick mane on his head and back. Placing his ear against the door's surface he closed his eyes. "Hmm... Not too much of the security spells. I think your parents wanted to scare you away from the laboratory, telling you some fake stories."

While her parents were famous State Magicians, his dad was the chief scribe in the Great Library of Carmond. They were always following rules and protocols, not having a single thought about doing something against them. And of course they tried their best to pass those "precious" moral values and boring rules to their kids.

"They would never lie to me!" Freya said loudly with resentment, unconsciously clenching her paws into fists. She was so tired about Reeden's self - confidence. "I'm sure they didn't..."

"Aaand it's opened." Reed pressed down the handle, pulling the heavy doors toward them with a silent growl as they were way more heavy than they looked."Come on, just a little more!"

As the door opened enough for two teens to sneak in, Reed and Freya quickly entered the lab's room. After the cougar closed the wooden wing silently, he glanced around all the tables and shelves, letting out a rather loud "wow". He couldn't feed his eyes with all those colorful vials and old scripts. It was so different from what they saw in the school! Not to mention that the whole apparatus was way more advanced! Also, it seemed that some of the potions were left for slow brewing. Taking a closer look at the vials and the liquid inside it, Reeden noticed that the fire's source wasn't from an oil lamp or coal. Flames, which were changing from blue to green, seemed to be a fully magical one.

"How is it possible that you haven't sneaked in here for so many years?" He asked, locking his eyes on the book that was currently floating in the middle of the lab and its sheets were slowly changing. "I never thought that the State Magicians are on such a different level than our teachers!"

"L-like I said, mom and dad never allowed me to enter their lab." Freya seemed to be upset, discovering that she knew so little about what her parents were doing. "I didn't want to risk, since they were always scaring me with all those security spells and potential side effects of..."

"Woah! Have you ever seen such a potion? It has such a cool color!"

Young cougar wasn't really paying attention to the snow leopard's words, already taking off one of the large vials from the unsigned shelf. Substance contained inside it had a dark red color, but when Reed shook it lightly, it changed into the orange one, with white and black veins mixed into its structure.
