A Foxes Beginning

The beginning

"Now gather around children for this story is almost as old as the gods and goddesses now I'm sure you all know how werewolves and other shifters came to be, but do you know how the great and mysterious Kitsune came to be?"

All the kids look around until one speaks up "What's a kipsune" I simply smile at the young pup "It's a kitsune but a kitsune is a fox with great magical abilities that go beyond our perception and each has a unique trait and ability that they have you will never find two of the same when it comes to a kitsune" the kids all gasp.

"what's so special about them I'm a wolf whose strong and noble, their nothing but a stupid fox" he huffs out causing the pup to get a strict look from his mother.

I smile "yes that's true wolves are strong and noble and dragons are intellectual and honorable but a kitsune is beautiful, graceful and cunning, but enough of talking about what they are like, let's get into the story, now we all know that in the beginning it was only the gods who walked the lands until one god made humans but soon the gods had regretted what they had made, for the humans were selfish and greedy and that saddened the gods so the gods had a meeting about what to do, the gods came to an agreement that the moon goddess would from then on take over creation and create new beings the first ones she made was witches humans who were able to control the powers of the gods, the second ones were creatures of the night but soon they started to terrorize the humans so the goddess created werewolves and eventually every other kind of shifters and for awhile the gods were pleased with the new beings until they wanted more new creatures and so the moon goddess agreed and created the kitsune at first the moon goddess was upset with the new creature she had made" one pup stands up abruptly and asks "but why, I thought she loved everything" I let a small laugh slip past my lips and nod "it's not that she didn't love them it was because she felt they were missing something so the moon goddess went to the goddess of love and beauty and told the goddess her troubles until the moon goddess had an idea and offered the small fox to the goddess and said that the goddess should keep the fox for two weeks and give the fox what she thought it needed, at first the goddess was shocked but soon agreed and the moon goddess left and said that she would be back in two weeks, the goddess of love and beauty spent the first week with the fox full of laughter and fun and when the second week came the goddess knew what she wanted to bless the fox with".

"What Did She bless it with" one parent asks.

"She gave her the ability to love everything and more importantly she gave her the gift of beauty and at the end of the two weeks the moon goddess came back for the fox just as she had promised, the goddess of love was sad that the little fox had to leave, she asked the moon goddess if the fox was perfect yet but the moon goddess shook her head lightly saying that the fox was still missing something so the moon goddess left with the fox and brought the fox to the goddess of luck and grace, and offered her the same thing as the goddess of love, but at first the goddess of luck refused until the moon goddess pleaded with her, reluctantly the goddess agreed and spent time with the little fox and grew to love her like she was her own, the goddess decided to bless the fox with great luck and fortune and a kind of grace that was like a cat. The moon goddess gave the fox to many more gods, the god of war gave the fox the blessing of resilience and the courage to fight, the goddess of strategy and knowledge gave her the ability of knowledge and wisdom and how to strategize when needed, the goddess of mischief gave her the blessing of mischief and allure, and many more gods gave gracious gifts until the moon goddess finally announced that her new creation was ready, but when she said this the gods were upset and frantic they begged and pleaded saying that the earth is a cruel place and that the fox should stay with them, but the moon goddess had made her mind up, and offered them a deal that she would send only one to the mortal realm as a trial test. The gods reluctantly accepted but before their beloved fox they decided to name her, the name they gave her was Astrea and with that, she was sent to the mortal realm.

When Astrea arrived at the mortal realm she was amazed by the beautiful woods not long after she met a group of men who were immediately drawn to her beauty and thought that her beauty was that of a goddess, the men brought her to the village where she lived for 2 months everyone in the village worshipped her because if someone was injured she would heal them, every man in the village was in love with her, but she would always politely decline but on one fateful day the villager's chiefs son confessed his love to her but she rejected him, the man was angry so he lied to the villagers and said that she was a demon who was there to take their souls, the villagers chased her through the woods the whole night with the intentions of killing her.

She ran all night until she couldn't anymore, Astrea collapsed on the forest floor but was soon saved by another human man.

Astrea and the man were together for quite some time and over time she became in love with him, the man said he loved her but a few months later Astrea Found him in bed with another woman, Astrea was heartbroken and ran away to the seclusion of the woods where she fell to her knees and looked up to the sky and yelled and cursed at the gods "why would you leave me in such a cruel and forsaken place you abandoned me and left me with nothing I feel everything dying around me, I wish nothing more than to die" the moon goddess heard her cries and summoned her, the moon goddess was saddened by the sight of the fox who was once full of such life now stood like a hollow shell as the tears cascaded down her cheeks the moon goddess embraced her and cried "I'm so sorry my dear child, I made a mistake but the gods all gave you a gift, I promise that you shall never feel this way ever again, for your great sorrows the gods have decided that you Astrea will be the goddess of sorrows, name what you want my child that will help you forget your sorrows" Astrea thought long and hard until she finally decided "I wish to have a new body one with different looks than this one, one that isn't marred with grief one the shall make me forget every day in the mortal realm" the moon goddess agreed And with that Astrea ascended to godhood but the moon goddess was enraged so she created more foxes but these were vicious and cared for no one, she sent them to the mortal realm and watched as they reeked havoc after she felt satisfied she withdrew her vicious creatures and gave them to Astrea for company and then sent the rest of the kitsunes to the mortal realm. But this was only the beginning of the kitsune". All the pups and parents applauded and paid me and went on with their day.
