Ava is 14
Ava had never felt so sick. She walked through the bunker doors and slammed it rather aggressively behind her. "What the hell are you doing here?" Dean questions looking up from his laptop. "Going to my room." She mumbles. "Your Dad is going to be pissed. How'd you even get here?"Dean questions. "I asked Cass to zap me." Ava whispers shuffling toward her room. "You alright kid?" Dean says noticing her slow movements and irritable mood. "What the hell are you doing here?" Sam barks from the doorway. "Cass zapped her." Dean answers as Ava ignores her father and goes straight to her room. "Why?" Sam questions confused. "No clue. She didn't tell me." Dean sighs as he hears her bedroom door slam shut. Sam groans. "Was I like this?" Sam questions his brother making Dean smirk. "You were a moody pain in the ass but I never had to worry about you skipping school." He chuckles. "Cas?" Sam calls out. Seconds later Cas appeared in the bunker. "Yes?" He said making Sam jump. "Did you zap Ava home?" Cas nods. "Yes she prayed to me and asked to be home." Cas says not seeing an issue. "Alright. Next time ask me before zapping her anywhere." Sam sighs annoyed. "I'm sorry Sam. I just assumed she would have your permission before leaving school." Cas apologized. "Yeah I thought she would too." Sam scoffed. Ava wasn't one to misbehave. "Maybe you should go check on her. She seemed upset when she came in. Maybe something happened." Dean days trying to give his niece the benefit of the doubt. "Yeah you're right. I'm gonna check on her." Sam sighs heading to his daughters room. He knocked and didn't get an answer. "Hey Honey, it's me. I'm sorry if I came off upset. I was just surprised to see you not in school." Sam apologized knowing how sensitive she was to being yelled at. "Please leave me alone." She called from curled under her covers. "I'm just trying to make sure you're alright Honey." Sam tries again knowing he is pushing his luck. "Go away!" She shouted shoving the pillow over her head. "Ava!" Sam scolds in shock. Skipping school wasn't like her but shouting at her Dad was totally out of character. "I'm sorry Daddy. I'd just really like to be alone for a little." She whispered. She didn't know if her Dad heard her apology or not but she could hear his loud footsteps retreating. Dean waited an hour before knocking on her door. "Hey Sunshine. Are you decent?" Dean questions knowing there was no point in asking if he could come in because she would just say no. "Yeah." Ava whispered just loud enough for Dean to hear. He opened the door and took a second to look his niece over. She was laying in bed under the cover her brown waves splayed across the pillow and a book in her hand. She looked exhausted, her hazel eyes dull and drained and face paler than usual. "You alright Sunshine?" Ava nodded a little not looking up from her book. Dean waited a minute before speaking again. "Your Dads upset." He said taking note of the fact she hasn't turned the page since he entered the room. Ava bites her lip indicating she felt guilty. She tried her hardest to focus on the book but the words were blurring and she could feel her uncles gaze on her. "Alright Sunshine... I'm going to go back out to the library. We are working on a case if you want to pitch in. If not that alright too." Dean sighs trying to gauge what is going on in her head. "I didn't mean to upset him." She whispers. "I know Sweetheart. Just between you and me I don't think he's angry with you. I think he's just worried about you and got his feelings hurt a little." Dean soothes surprised to see tears in his nieces eyes. "Ok." She whispers quickly wiping her eyes on her flannel sleeve. "Whenever you are ready we are right here." Dean comforts closing the door. He heads back to the library grabbing a beer for himself and his brother and sitting down. "Thanks. She say anything?" Sam questions. "No. She was reading her book. She looks exhausted." Dean sighs taking a swig of beer. "She let you in?" Sam says giving him a bitch face. "No. I let myself in." Dean chuckles at his brothers jealousy. It was almost twenty minutes later when they heard her walk from her room to the bathroom not just slamming but locking the door behind her. Sam sighs and goes back to his book. It was like ten minutes later when she called out for her dad. "Daddy?" She chocked out from the bathroom. Sam's head immediately snapped up hearing her pained tone. All Ava could hear was the scraping of chair legs as her Dad ran to the bathroom. "Honey? You alright?" Sam says knocking. "No." She whimpers tears pouring down her face. "Whats wrong Honey?" Sam says heart cracking hearing her cry. She didn't answer him this time. "Did you get sick in their sunshine?" Dean offers from beside Sam recalling her pale features. "Yes." She chokes out followed by more tears. "It's alright Honey. Just open the door for me." Sam urges gently. Slowly the lock turns but she makes no effort to open the door. "I'm coming in Honey." When she doesn't protest Sam opens the door to see Ava making herself as small as possible huddled in the corner of the rather large bathroom. Tears were streaming down her face and her hazel eyes were bloodshot. "Why are you crying Honey?" Sam questions kneeling in front of her and placing a hand on her knee. "I'm sorry." She says quickly moving so her arms were around his neck and head burrowed into his shoulder. "Hey, it's alright. You have nothing to be sorry for Honey." Sam says rubbing her back to try and calm him. She took a couple shaky breaths trying to calm herself. Sam sat with her for a minute before she lurched out of his arms and wrapped herself around the toilet bringing up pure bile. It burned her throat and her stomach was cramping from contracting with each heave. Sam wraps her hair up trying to contain the mess. She takes gasping breaths of air trying to breathe after throwing up her guts. "You're alright Honey. I know it hurts." Sam soothes. "Did you get everything up?" He questions the smell making his own stomach hurt. She nods and little and Sam flushes the toilet helping her up and sitting her back down on the toilet seat. He grabbed a washcloth running it under cold water and wiping her face. "I'm sorry." Ava whispers refusing to meet her dads eyes. "Why are you sorry baby?" Sam questions ruffling her hair. "I was really mean to you Daddy. I wasn't trying to be. I just felt so sick and every time I opened my mouth only mean things came out." She mumbles feeling guilty and stupid. "It's ok baby. You know next time you aren't feeling well you can just tell me." Sam whispers looking down to meet her eyes. "I didn't want to bug you." She whispers. "You're never bugging me Honey. Let's get you in bed. You look exhausted." Sam sighs helping her up. She tried to stand which only made her tumble. Sam wrapped an arm around her waist guiding her to bed. Sam smiles a little seeing that Dean was changing the sheets and had the room set up for her. Water on the end table and a bucket by the bed. "Thanks Uncle De." She whispers leaning against the door frame to support herself. "Yeah. Looks like you sweated through your sheets. How's that fever?" Dean questions. "It's starting to break." She whispers. "Good. I'll let you get changed. Feel better Sunshine." Dean says leaving the room. "You need anything?" Sam questions. "No. Thank you Dad." She whispers hugging him. "Of course Baby. Shout if you need anything. I'll come check on you in a little." He says pressing a kiss to her feverish forehead.
