"Wonyoung," Hanni said over the phone.
"What? I'm on a date with Sunghoon, make it quick," Wonyoung whispered.
"On a date? Wow you guys move fast," Hanni remarked.
Wonyoung tried to frown, but the corner of her mouth tilted upwards, "Shut up! You know how hard it was the even budge Sunghoon? I had to be the one to ask him out! Can you believe that? Anyways, what do you want? I'm hanging up."
"I need Danielle's number," Hanni requested.
Wonyoung raised her eyebrow, "I thought you already had her number? Weren't you guys friends in school before?"
Hanni explained, "I tried finding her contacts, but it just doesn't come up on my phone. Can you send me her new phone number?"
Beep! Wonyoung hung up.
"Ugh! I'm not done!" Hanni yelled. Just then, her phone buzzed again.
Wonyoung: Here. Now don't bother me again.
Hanni smiled, "Thank you." She muttered under her breath.
Hanni nervously called up the number Wonyoung had just given her. "Please pick up... please pick up..."
"Hello?" The phone came a voice. Even though Hanni didn't talk to Danielle for a long time, her voice was still recgonisable the second she spoke.
"Danielle! It's Hanni!" Hanni said enthusiastically, before being greeted by a long pause.
"What do you want?" Danielle said threatening. Did she do something wrong? Why couldn't she remember it now?
"I want to ask something about... someone from school," Hanni confessed.
"Who?" Danielle replied, still cold.
"The school president," Hanni said, before Danielle hung up arbitrarily.
Hanni tried to call Danielle again, but she kept getting sent to voicemail.
As Hanni walked to work, she saw her boss, Haerin, with another person in her room. She peeked her head over, just to see Danielle, crossing her leg and tilting her head. They seemed to be in an conversation, but this was too urgent. Hanni knocked on the door.
"Come in," Out came Haerin's voice.
Hanni pushed the door, only to see Danielle's puppy eyes widened in shock. "Why is she here?"
"She's my employee, Dani," Haerin explained, confused. "Do you two know each other?"
"We were school mates," Hanni said, still smiling. "I didn't know you guys knew each other?"
"We're... dating..." Haerin giggled shyly. It wasn't like her, the normal, confident boss, now all smithen up to Danielle? "I'll let you guys catch up first." Haerin gave Danielle a peck on the forehead. "Have fun!"
Danielle faked a smile, watching Haerin close the door. "What do you want?" She repeated again.
"I don't seem to remember, anything about the school president," Hanni told her, "I was wondering, that if you knew anything. I've been having these... vivid dreams. And you were in there too, but everytime I try to get to know her name, I snap out of it. It's like this weird trance simulation I'm in."
Danielle leaned forward, trying to observe Hanni, "Do you really not remember? Or is something making you not remember?"
Hanni leaned back and close her eyes. "I don't follow."
"When someone forgets something. Sometimes it's because of trauma. Your mind acting as a safe-mechanism to protect you," Danielle told her. "I'm a psychology major."
Hanni nodded, "Suits you. Psychology, Danielle, you were always the bright one."
"Perhaps your dream hasn't caught you up yet. We're not friends, Hanni," Danielle stood up, heading to the door.
Hanni tilted her head: But they were friends in their dream... Was this just a dream then, or... what did Danielle meant by "your dream hasn't caught you up yet?
Before Danielle left, she held on the door handle and turned back to glance at Hanni one last time, "Her name is Kim Minji. We stopped being friends because of her."
