Her laughter echoed through his ears as she slid down the slide. He felt like she was the prettiest girl he had ever seen....after his mother, of course.

The five year old was suddenly pulled out of his trance by the waving of the girl's hand.

"Kay! Come join me! It's fun. See?" She rushed to the top and pushed herself down the slide, opening her arms as if trying to hug the wind.

Kay saw her mesmerizing eyes that were squinted and her mouth which held the prettiest of smiles. Her hair, which was tied into adorable pigtails, swung in the air as she laughed.

"Wait for me Lia! I'm coming!" Kay immediately ran towards the slide and climbed up the ladder to the top. He sat down, waiting patiently for her to come back up.

"Will you push me down?" Kay asked Lia, who had just come up. "Yeah sure!" She immediately approached behind him and using both her hands, pushed Kay from behind.

Kay swung out his arms as he shouted. But as fate would have it, he embarrassed himself by falling down before he could reach the end. The soil, which was damp because of the previous downpour, stuck onto him.

This made everyone at the park look at him at laugh. Some kids pointed at him and mocking him.
He felt his cheeks burn due to his embarrassment. He felt tears welling up in his eyes.

"Kay! Are you alright?" A concerned Lia got down the slide and approached Kay. She immediately noticed the tears in his eyes.

"Are you crying?" Kay immediately wiped his eyes trying to erase any hint of tears. He then shook his head denying. "No no.... I'm not crying." His voice began to crack at the end.

"Ooohh Kay is crying! He is a crybaby!" He heard some of his classmates yell. They surrounded him in a circle and began to parrot the word crybaby, which made him cry out even more.

Lia immediately came forward and shouted "Kay is not a crybaby! You all are being mean. He is a kind and helpful friend. Unlike you!" She then held his tiny hand and led him to the fountain nearby.

"Are you ok? Are you hurt somewhere?" Lia asked, looking at his body for any injures. "No no... I'm fine" he sniffled, wiping his runny nose.

"I feel angry at myself for crying. I am a crybaby..." Kay was on the verge of crying again when suddenly, Lia held his hand. "No...you're not. I would have cried too...are you sure it doesn't hurt?" Lia asked to which he shook his head as a no.

"You are so brave." Kay looked at her and whispered, to which she gave him a toothy smile. Her teeth were arranged perfectly, except for her front ones, which was slightly protruded outwards, giving her a bunny look.

It's what made her look adorable. Including her cute little pigtails and the sweater which looked comically big for her, the sleeves reaching upto her fingers, making them look even more tiny.

The one thing he liked the most was her voice. He felt like he could hear it for hours.

"Can you come near? I have something to say." She fulfilled his request by bringing her face and ears closer, trying to listen to whatever he was trying to say.

He immediately gave a tiny peck on her cheek. She immediately turned towards him, her eyes wide, her mouth open, showing her adorable bunny teeth. This made Kay go shy as he immediately lowered his eyes and a tinge of red covered his cheeks.

"I heard from my brother that if you like someone, you have to kiss them...." Kay's banter was interrupted by Lia as she bent down and kissed his cheek as well.

Now it was Kay's turn to be shocked. He looked up at Lia, who had twisted her fingers and was looking down at her feet which made designs at the sand below.

"I like you too." She replied, bashful. Kay immediately felt gleeful as he began to run around the fountain.

"SHE LIKES ME TOO! SHE LIKES ME TOO!!" He screamed out, attracting the attention of some people, who simply smiled at the innocence of the young children.
