The train ride seemed to never end, the only view being empty fields with the occasional cattle or horse sighting for a while now. The only reason she was putting herself through this boredom was because of her sister. The last time she had seen Sakura was months ago when she decided to pack her bags and move in with her wife in the countryside. Don't get Chaewon wrong, she loved Kazuha. The woman was her best friend first before she became her sister's wife. Chaewon even helped her plan the proposal, but Kazuha betrayed her by snatching her sister and moving three hours away! Okay, maybe it was Chaewon's fault for choosing not to visit, instead just opting to drown herself in her work. But hey! She was on her way now, and it wasn't because Sakura had threatened her through the phone. Of course not.Besides, it'd been a while since Chaewon took a proper break. Maybe these few months in the countryside would benefit her and break away the stress that had been weighing her down. Chaewon wondered what awaited her. She had never seen Sakura's home before, only a few shots of the interior when they video called or when she sent pictures. Chaewon had never heard of the small town her sister and sister in law lived in and she couldn't help but be curious of the place Sakura left her comfortable city life for.
The train's loud whistle startled Chaewon out of her thoughts and she once again cursed Sakura for choosing to live in a place that didn't have a nearby airport in miles. As the train slowed down and rolled into the station, Chaewon took her luggage out from the compartment above her seat. She threw her bag over her shoulder and rolled her luggage along the wooden floor of the station. There was no building in sight, just trees surrounding the station and a single dirt road. Chaewon grumbled when she didn't see Kazuha or Sakura here to pick her up as promised. Chaewon tried to call, even send text messages, but the service here was total ass.
With an annoyed sigh, Chaewon just opted to take the dirt road and hope for the best.
She'd been walking for about twenty minutes now and this stupid dirt road never seemed to end. It didn't help that the road was super bumpy, occasionally having to pull her luggage out of a pothole and it definitely didn't help that the sun was extra blazing today despite it being close to sundown.
"Stupid Kazuha. Stupid Sakura ." Chaewon muttered under her breath.
Just as she was about to collapse onto the ground, in the distance she saw a row of buildings along the sides of the road and Chaewon wanted to jump with glee—if she wasn't so tired that is. The first thing she did was head towards a bench against the front of what seemed to be a grocery store. She just wanted to rest her poor aching feet and call Sakura. She was too out of it, dizzy from the exhaustion and heat, to even notice the whoopie cushion.
The farting sound made her spring from her seat and she felt the redness of embarrassment replace the redness from the sun on her cheeks. Giggles sounded from around the corner of the building.
"I can't believe she fell for it."
"It was literally right there in the open."
As Chaewon rounded the corner, she caught two short girls leaning against the wall. Their eyes widened when they saw her, their expressions turning innocent.
"She did it," they both said at the same time, pointing at each other.
One of them looked at her curiously. "Hey, are you new around here? I've never seen you before."
"Yes..." Chaewon replied, hesitant.
"I'm Hyein! And this hobbit beside me is Eunchae." Hyein tilted her head towards Eunchae.
"We are literally the same height."
"Anyways," Hyein waved Eunchae off, "what brings you here?"
"Uh, I'm Chaewon. And I'm here to visit my sister Sakura." Chaewon didn't even know why she was still here entertaining these girls who just pranked her, but they seemed like her only hope since the people she called family wouldn't pick up the phone.
