speak before the elegy

Dear main character,
time's not an elixir of forever.
If all unforeseen is mailed like one's last letter,
here's an unforgivably cruel reminder:

Afterlife does not care gender,
age or 'they deserve to live longer'.

It is wherever and whenever.
It is the moment they lost to cancer;
the moment tires slipped under bad weather;
the moment breaths came lighter
and heartbeats were no longer.

Some words may feel like a skyscraper,
but they do not enslave, instead, they ask you to be brave.
Because soon, beloveds are cosmic bodies returned to the Maker,
'in loving memory' on the grave.

Author's note:

Have you ever regretted not telling someone something sooner before they left, or is there someone you wish to tell something but find the words clogged in your throat everytime you want to say them?

Whether it's "I forgive you", "I love you" or anything specially just for the two of you, if you think it's only right to let them know when they're alive...

Tell them before it's time for them to leave this world.
