Flashback Memory Page 2: " Sweden "

Carmen ( Nova's mother ) took her to Sweden because she wanted her to learn the culture while learning at school, so they travelled via Private LBT ( Levitating Bullet Train ) and within 4 hours, they arrived.

Carmen: " Welcome to the gentle land of Sweden, It's my home, and so this will be yours to learn and adapt, and so the language that we speak as we stay here is swedish "

Nova: " My Swedish language isn't yet as polished as yours mom, so i will have some difficulties understanding the locals."

Carmen: "Hej, Är du inte ännu bra på att prata svenska? Efter alla dessa år jag har lärt dig?"

Translation: ( You're not yet great at speaking Swedish? After all those i have taught you? )

Nova: " Ursäkta, mamma, jag har varit för upptagen med studier, så jag har ännu inte behärskat mitt ursprungsspråk."

Translation: " Apologies, mom, I've been too busy studying, so I haven't yet mastered my origin language."

Carmen: " "Well, du kommer att lära dig när du stannar här, så försök att lära dig och anpassa dig till vårt folks sätt."

Translation: " Well, you will learn as you stay here and try to learn and adapt the ways of our people."

Nova: " Förstått."

Translation: " Understood "

Carmen: "Vi kommer att bo i min hemstad i Vadstena, så njut av platsen och lär så mycket du kan."

Translation: " We'll be staying in Vadstena, my hometown, so enjoy the place and learn as much as you can."

Nova: " Ok."

Nova started her high school years in sweden. She met a lot of people, and she had some difficulties understanding some words, but for the most part, she understood the people and conversed with them adequately. She did enjoy some of the swedish customs, but she also didn't in some, but it's not a perfect culture, and she understands that, so she just uses these customs to her advantage.

[ After one year in Sweden. June 5, 2265 ]

[ Nova's Age: 11 ]

Nova: "Behöver jag verkligen ha på mig det här, mamma?"

Translation: " Do i really have to wear this, mom? "

Carmen: " "Ja, det är nödvändigt att bära Sverigedräkten i juni eftersom vi firar Sveriges nationaldag

Translation: " Yes, it's necessary to wear Sverigedräkten in june as we celebrate the national day of sweden."

Nova: " Men dagen är så hett, och det är juni, mamma, så kan jag inte bara ha på mig vanliga kläder?"

Translation: " But, the day is blazing, and it's june, mom, so can i just wear some regular ones? "

Carmen: " Nej, det är en tradition, så det sårar mig när du inte håller med om min kultur."

Translation: " No, it's a tradition, so it insults me when you are not agreeing with my culture."

Nova: " Jag är ledsen, jag kommer att ha på mig klänningen, mamma."

Translation: " Im sorry, i will wear the dress, mom."

Carmen: " Jag beklagar, men jag kan inte ge stöd eller uppmuntran till ett språk som är kontrollerande, respektlöst eller avfärdande. Om du har några andra icke-auktoritära förfrågningar eller frågor hjälper jag gärna till."

Translation: " What is instructed is what should be followed. You are yet to decide for yourself because you are not yet matured and experienced so you should only obey what is insructed, put your self aside and follow my orders because im the experienced one so i dont want to hear any more complains from you bonny, am i understood? "

Nova: " Jag är ledsen, jag kommer inte att klaga igen, mamma."

Translation: " I'm sorry, i won't complain again, Mother. "

Nova never complained again after this conversation. It affected her emotionally as she was hurt by her mother's words, and this was the start of the deterioration of her relationship with her mother.
