The morning sun began to peak over the horizon making the colors in the sky change. Stars began to disappear along with the two moons. Feeling the crisp cool breeze against Phanessa's face was refreshing in its own way. How her life has changed drastically and yet she is very delighted with the outcome. Meeting new people, seeing the world that lay beyond the tribe, and learning about things that haven't reached her ears before, back in Elvarious. All these things could be overwhelming to one, but she knew that her life wasn't meant for sitting around the tribe, but she had a task at hand that Phanessa made a promise to full-fill. Even if Paxton, Wren, and Warren have already completed the task at hand she was going to see it through that it was actually done. She prayed to the gods that her fellow tribe members were safe at home.
"We will be stopping soon to let Valen rest for a bit, he's complaining about being exhausted from flying. It will also be necessary due to the sun rising." Killian spoke in her ear, making her come out of prayer.
"Where are we exactly?" Phanessa asked with the wind starting to pick up.
"I would say almost half way to Colzon, east of the Great Plains by now. If you are up to it we can leave Valen to rest for awhile and we can carry on foot." Killian seemed like he wanted to get this over and done with even if was terribly injured.
"That would be great if we could continue, but you should rest..." Phanessa knew if they kept pushing that he would just end up opening his wounds.
"Ha. Are you worried about me, Elf?" Killian pinched her cheek, Phanessa swatted at his hand before a huff of air escaped her lips.
"You know as well as I do that you are not fit for traveling." Killian gritted his teeth at her comment knowing damn well she was right, but a small part of him wanted to make things right with her. Was this sympathy he felt for the Elf?
"Whatever, no injuries are going to stop me. I'm Killian the mighty warrior who can conquer all if I wanted to." His cocky smirk grew back. Phanessa looked back at him with a serious face and chopped him on the head.
"That's the most stupid thing I've heard come out of your mouth." Killian glared at her, he opened his mouth to say something then pouted and looked at the ground below them. The ground grew closer and closer causing Phanessa to accelerate from the motion of falling, once again she grabbed onto Killian and yelped. She would never get used to that. Killian went over the plan with Valen and Valen complied-ed because he was tired from flying so long.
"But I thought we agreed you wouldn't travel." Phanessa huffed.
"I never agreed to anything, all you did was hit me in the head!" Phanessa and Valen snickered at Killian getting so worked up over that.
"Phanessa, I wish we met sooner. I've never seen Killian act like a child before." Valen covered his mouth with his hand to muffle the laughter. Killian chopped his head like Phanessa did to him.
"Shut up dragon breath."
"Well if you must tag along with me then we should get going," Phanessa's expression grew to a sinister smile. "Little prince Killy." She then ran as Killian's eye twitched and he looked at the dragon with daggers in his eyes.
"Better follow the Elf, wouldn't want some other prince to kidnap her." Valen joked deserving another chop on the head.
...
"So little prince, do you travel often or are you in a rebellious phase?" Phanessa smirked, Killian thought she was getting way too comfortable with calling him that.
"No, I don't usually travel until recently...my kingdom needs me to do this. I need to maintain order in the court."
"Why aren't your other brothers helping?" A sigh escaped his lips as he looked at the ground then up at the sky.
"My other brothers could care less, they are selfish and don't partake in anything unless it's something they enjoy..." Killian's expression changed to something of a hateful look, making her concerned.
"I'm sorry to hear that, I have an older brother...but he is more like an overachiever. It's hard to keep up with him." Killian looked at her, she smiled softly talking about him. They must be close, Killian thought.
"Do you...miss your tribe?"
"I do..." Killian felt depressed because he was the one to stop her from going back. Now he felt worse, the more he began to know Phanessa. She wasn't some naive Elf that wanted to be a hero, she was a genuine person. One that wanted to help people and comfort them like a mother, her kindness grew with every second she would speak, even if it was the hard truth. "But...I also enjoy traveling with Valen and you." Her face lit up with a huge smile making Killian's breath hitch. He could tell by her eyes that she meant every word. A soft smile grew on his lips.
"Good." His ears turned red as he looked away.
"Just good! Not 'I enjoy traveling with you too.' Unbelievable, here I thought that we were becoming friends..." Phanessa looked the other way and pouted with her arms crossed. Killian looked at her deciding what he should do. Leaning down to her eye level he moved her face with his hand so they made eye contact. Phanessa's face grew red from realizing how close he was to her, damn this prince she thought.
"Phanessa, I'm glad I met you, too." If her face wasn't red enough then it was now. "Now let's get going before it grows too dark, come on Elf." Phanessa was frozen and slapped her cheeks jolting her out of how close he was. She held her chest as she began to run to catch up with Killian. What was this feeling in her stomach, it felt like butterflies.
...
Night fall came, it still amazed the little Elvarian how the two boys could track each other down with their bond. They explained how if they were a certain distance away they could, but to her it was a great distance for how far they've walked since that morning. Phanessa and Killian were exhausted though, Valen let the two rest while he flew them to Colzon. The journey ahead was just the start of many more adventures to come.
