Chapted 8: I Can Turn Invisible?

It's been a couple days since Peter was snatched by "The Vulture". Peter, and I were in shop class, trying to see if we could get the core out the casing. Peter hit the weapon core casing with a hammer. Honestly, it was kind of hot. The core emits purple light as it is partially freed from the metal casing

     "Remind me why we're doing this at school? Where anyone can see us?" I whispered to Peter. "Because." That was all he said. I looked at him confused before shaking my head and focusing on the core

     Peter starts to pull it apart. "What are you doing!" I panicked. Peter flinched and looked at me. "Pulling it apart what does it look like i'm doing!" he replied quickly. "Here let me do it. You might get zapped or something." I grabbed his waist and moved him aside, causing him to slightly flinch at the touch. I took a glance at Peter and he stood there awkwardly. I smiled to myself, knowing I still had some affect on the brunette

I looked at the core, summoning energy from my hands and slowly but carefully using it to take apart small pieces that were connecting to the cores casing

     Ned comes from the behind us and goes next to Peter. "Hey, thanks for bailing on me." He said sarcastically. "Yeah, well, something came up." Peter replied. "Sorry, Ned." I looked up and apologized before looking back down

     Ned noticed this and spots the glowing core. "What is that?" He asked intrigued. "I don't know. Some guy tried to vaporize us with it." Peter replied casually. "Seriously?" Ned furrowed his eyebrows in concern. "Yeah." Peter said, not taking his eyes off the core. "Awesome." Ned breathed out. Peter and I took our eyes off the core and looked at Ned astonished at his absurd reaction

"I mean, not awesome. Totally uncool of that guy. So scary." He tried correcting himself, awkwardly. "Ned, are you okay? Like genuine question." I asked him, like if he just got a concussion or something. "What? Yeah. Why?" He replied. I hummed in response and continued to carefully pull apart the tech, wiggling my fingers as the energy swiftly moved and surrounded itself around the pieces

"That is so cool." Ned took his phone out and took a picture of my hands. "Did you just take a picture?" I asked for confirmation. "Uhh. Maybe? Your powers just look so cool." Ned said awkwardly. I chuckled in disbelief and continued to pry away more wires

"Okay? Well anyways. We think it's a power source." Peter explained to Ned. "Yeah, but it's connected to all these microprocessors. That's an inductive charging plate. That's what I use to charge my toothbrush." Ned stated, pointing at a complex-looking charging mechanism connected to various wires. I rolled my eyes and went back to concentrating on getting the core out the casing

     "Whoever's making these weapons is obviously combining alien tech with ours." Peter told Ned. "That is literally the coolest sentence anyone has ever said" Ned fanboyed. "There are better." I argued. I would say a few but I didn't feel like speaking anymore. Ned began to thank us for something but I wasn't really paying attention

I was at the last piece before the core was free. I surrounded my energy around the core. I tried to pull it out with a quick tug of my hand but it didn't budge. I stuck my tongue out, concentrating on getting this damn core out the casing. I put both my hands above of the core. I slowly pulled them away, spreading them apart in the process, a trail of energy following my fingers and the core. With a quick jerk of my hands, the core popped out of place with a clink. Blue and purple energy glowing at the impact

We all flinched at the impact and looked at the teacher to see if he witnessed what just happened. He was reading a book, sitting in his chair. He didn't even spare a glance at the commotion we just caused. "Keep your fingers clear of the blades." He exclaimed, not taking his eyes off his book
