Ash groaned as she sat up in the bed, wiping the sleep from her eyes. She felt exhausted and really didn't want to get out of bed. However, when Ash looked down, the exhaustion disappeared and was replaced with embarrassment. She is naked in bed with Trollex, with his arm lying across her waist. Oh shit. Even though she didn't regret it, waking up naked in bed with someone for the first time in her life was kind of embarrassing? I need a shower. Gently, she slipped his arm off her and tried to quietly make it to the shower in her pod without waking up the Techno King. Unbeknownst to her, he woke as soon as she moved his arm. "Not going to invite me?" He teased.

"Wait." Trollex shot up as he glanced at his arm, a thin gold string wrapped around it, leading to the shower. "Ash, we need to talk." She glanced towards the bed, though she didn't open the curtain. Why does he sound worried?

"Okay, I'll be quick. Could you hand me some clothes?"

"No, we need to talk now." Realizing he wouldn't let up, she grabbed a towel, wrapping it around her before stepping back into his line of view. He looked between panicked and excited. "What's wrong." Instead of speaking, he held up his right arm. Is he hurt? "What's wrong?" She repeated.

"Y-you can't see it?" His voice broke.

"See what?"

He stood shocked, not knowing what to say. She can't see it. Played over and over in his mind. Why couldn't she see it? He tried to think of times this might've happened with other techno trolls, though nothing came up.

"Trollex, are you okay?"

"No." his brow furrowed.

"So, are you going to tell me what's wrong?"

"You can't see that we've bonded." He sounded so broken.

His words, expression, and tone completely threw her off guard. She couldn't help but focus on the words, though. "I'm sorry, we've what?"

"Why can't you see it?" Her question had gone entirely over his head. Instead, he was focused on the fact she could not see the string attaching them together. A bonding string.

"Trollex, I need you to calm down and breathe. First, explain how we've bonded, and then you'll tell me what exactly it is that I can't see." She softened her tone, hoping it'd help him calm down.

"When trolls bond, a thin gold thread appears, connecting the two trolls together. It only lasts twenty-four hours, and after a day, it fades away. I don't understand why you can't see it." His brow furrowed as he reached for her wrist; the string was so clearly wrapped around her left wrist, so he knew they bonded.

"Um, we don't have that in my world; it's possible I can't see it because I'm human." She offered a theory. "But can we go back to the fact we're bonded? How?"

Oh. Right. He hadn't meant for them to bond. He knew it would be in their future, but he hadn't expected it to happen after last night. He rubbed his wrist with the thread, trying to compose an explanation. "Well, it can happen with a bonding ceremony-"

Ash cut him off. "Like a wedding?" "No, a wedding is different and usually happens after a bonding ceremony. Another way to bind yourself to someone is by intimacy." His comment threw her off guard; had they even gotten far enough? Shouldn't that happen after penetration or something? She stared at him, confusion filling her eyes.

"So, we're bonded." She stated again. When he nodded, she stepped closer to him. "That's good, right? Are you okay that we've bonded?" "Of course, I love you. I just didn't expect it to happen last night." Almost like he was trying to prove his point more, he leaned forward, placing his lips on hers, though as he attempted to deepen the kiss, Ash gently pushed him away. "I love you too; I really need to learn more about this, though. So, we're on the same level as marriage now?" He shrugged, looking a bit torn on how to explain. "Bonding is above marriage. We are literally bonded together now." He gently took her left hand into his right hand as he spoke. The string connecting them shorted the closer they got. "I wish you could see it." He lifted her wrist to his lips, gently kissing the string connecting them. "What does it look like?"
