Something in the air shifted that night. Despite our attempts at hiding it, I was almost sure the others could tell. Maybe our biggest giveaway was the fact that Megumi had stayed over in my room that night. Nothing had happened but Kugisaki and Maki had come to apologize to me the next morning, only to be met with Megumi instead. I could hear their squeals from my bed. Other than that nothing really gave us away. Though, technically we hadn't made anything official. "The exchange event is tomorrow." I glanced up at Megumi from my spot at my desk chair. It was simple and spinney. He was laying on my bed reading a book, my book to be exact. He closed it and rolled onto his side, peering over at me. "I know that." I responded and stood up, stretching.

"So about that date?" I padded over into the kitchenette and poured myself a glass of water. "Well, I was hoping to tell Yuuji before we did anything like that." I looked back at him while I sipped on my drink. "Though, I can't exactly do that until I collect his remains. Stupid Gojo." Megumi hummed and sat up. "It's getting late, I should head back to my room." He walked into the kitchenette and I set my cup down. "Goodnight Megumi." He hummed once again and rested his hands on my waist, placing a soft kiss on my forehead. "Is that ok?" I nodded and slipped my arms around his neck, locking him in a tight hug. "Maybe you should stay over tonight?" I mumbled and he let out an airy chuckle. "We both know that you won't be able to sleep because you won't stop talking." I sighed, knowing he was right.

"Fine, but can you leave your dog pretty please?" I backed up from his neck to look at him but he turned his gaze from me, ears red. "Sometimes I wonder if you like my dog more than you like me.." he grumbled and summed his dog. I walked him to the door and sent him out quietly so as not to alert Kugisaki. "Goodnight,
Y/n" I smiled and waved him off closing the door behind him. Myself and Megumi's dog crawled into bed. I picked up the book that Megumi had left and marked the page before setting it on my nightstand. I was out like a light and woke up to a loud pounding on my door. I knew it wasn't Megumi, he would've just come in or knocked lightly. "What is it Kugisaki?!" I yelled out and propped myself up with my elbow, disappointed that Megumi's dog was once again gone. "You're gonna be late! We're meeting in like- less than ten minutes!"

"What?!" I yelled and stormed out of bed, rushing to grab clothes and a snack. I shoved my spare uniform on that had the sleeves ripped off. "Ah shit, it's already been five minutes!" I shoved my white boots on and ran to my vanity, tossing my hair into a messy bun instead of the usual ponytail. A few stray hairs hung out here and there. I huffed and put my glasses on, grabbing half of a peeled orange from my fridge. I ran out of my dorm and was met with silence. "Shit! Even Megumi left.." I began jogging out of the building and in the direction of where we were supposed to meet. I saw a few heads of hair in the distance and sighed, slowing to a walk. I made my way over to my friends trying to catch my breath. There were other people there too.

But one person caught my eye. He was here. He was really alive. My little brother. "YUUJI!" I grinned and he turned to face me, he was obviously being berated by Kugisaki and Megumi. "Y/n!" I crashed into him and he caught me. I couldn't even stop myself from crying. I knew he was fine for over a month, yet, I still felt sad whenever I was without his presence. Even then, he seemed different, more grown up. "You idiot! Why'd you have to go and die like that?! I was right there!" I sobbed and everyone remained silent, for some it was awkward, others found it endearing. "I'm sorry Y/n, I promise it won't happen again." He rubbed my back a little and set me down. I sniffed and rubbed my face, pushing my hand up behind my sunglasses. I punched him in the chest, right where his heart was ripped out. "You better not."

I turned to look at all of the Kyoto students and they all seemed either disgusted or confused. Maybe some felt a hint of sympathy. I glared, my attitude changing already. "What are you all looking at?" And whose the old fart?" I glanced over at a very old guy who looked pissed as Gojo taunted him. "C'mon Y/n, let's not make enemies already." Yuuji grabs my shoulder at the same time as Megumi and I look between the two. Then they share a look and I can't tell if they're about to start beefing with each other. I huff and shrug the both of them off. "I only make enemies of people who try to get my brother killed." I glared at the old guy who was explaining the rules of the first event. Gojo had stopped pestering him and stood next to his students, having overheard me he replied. "Ya got that right." After the old guy stopped yapping about the games we were dismissed to go have a team meeting.
