September 29th 1998

Leon stormed out of the house and down the front steps, outside, the rain landing on his back and face, slowly soaking him from head to toe. "Leon!" The girl yelled behind him, following him outside in the rain. Her hair starting to stick to the sides of her face. Leon stopped, quickly turning around to face her. "What do you want me to do?!? Tell me. What can i do that is gonna fix this whole situation?!?" He yelled at her. "I'm sorry." She spoke softly to him. "Y/n, we've been together for 4 years! 4 years, and you wont let me meet your family." He yelled. "All of my family knows you! Hell they even love you. So what is the problem?!?" He explained, obviously angered. "It's more complicated than that Leon..." Y/n tries to explain. "What makes it so god damn complicated?!?" He questions, stepping closer to her. "You wouldn't understand, it's a lot harder than you think." She spoke, her voice calm and gentle. She was trying to deescalate the situation. Leon shook his head, scoffing under his breath. "I bet even now if i asked you to explain it to me , you wouldn't, right?" He asked, his voice now low but clearly annoyed. Y/n looked up at him. Their eyes met as each one of them stood there getting soaked by the rain that came pouring down. Y/n wanted to explain the situation to him so badly. She wanted to make it all better so then instead of Leon leaving, he would walk back into that house and the two of them could get cozy and all warm again. Back to how it was before this. But Y/n knew that they both knew the answer to his question. She wasn't going to explain it to him. She couldn't.

A large bang echoed throughout the area and a bright flash landed across each of their faces as lightning struck in the distance. The both are able to see the others face more clearly for just a second. Leons wet hair sticking to the sides of his face. His face, soaked with water. It was in that moment Y/n knew she was gonna have to let Leon go. She would never be able to explain to him that she was one of the president's daughters. She wasn't allowed to. Not yet at least. Y/n looked down at her feet. "That's what I thought." Leon spoke softly as y/n didn't say anything. He was disappointed. He thought that maybe after all this time, she would actually tell him. Explain it to him. Make him understand. But guess not. He reached into his pocket grabbing a small piece of jewelry. He looked down at it before tossing it at her feet. "After 4 years, i never expected it to end like this." Leon spoke. Y/n had tears well up in her eyes. Leon stared at her, taking in her features, the color of her eyes, her hair, everything he loved about her, one last time, before turning away and making his way down the sidewalk.

Y/n watched him walk away, tears running down her cheeks. She wanted to call out his name. Beg him to come back. Just explain everything to him. But she kept her mouth shut. She watched him walk away, hop into his jeep and then drive off, leaving her alone in the rain, soaked. She looked down at her feet picking up the beautiful piece. She stared at it. The ring glimmered in the rain and the light from the moon hit it ever so slightly. The thought of Leon proposing to her was a happy thought. Now it just made her feel worse. She messed up everything. She messed up a beautiful future she could have had. Now it was all gone. Eventually she made her way back inside the house. She walked upstairs, stripping herself from her wet clothes. She placed on a clean pair before drying her hair with a towel and soon crawling into her bed, alone. She held the ring looking at it. She opened her night stand drawer, pulling out a silver chain, that she had from an old necklace but lost the pendant. She put the ring on it before putting it on like a necklace and then slumped into her bed. Y/n wasn't getting any sleep that night.

Leon drove off leaving Y/n there. His mind raced with thoughts as he was now broken hearted. He loved Y/n very much, but the fact that they had been together so long and he never met any of her family, no siblings, nothing, was a bit of a red flag to him. But other than that, she was absolutely perfect. In every single way. He pulled into the parking lot of a local bar and headed inside, marching his way right up to the bar counter and sitting down. The bartender came over. "I'll take a whiskey. Actually, just give me the whole bottle." He spoke before a glass and bottle was placed in front of him. "Rough night?" The bartender asked, looking at him. "Very." Leon spoke as he poured himself a glass, shooting it down quick.

For the rest of the night Leon sat at the bar drowning himself in liquor. To the point that he was so drunk that he could barely pour himself another drink. He turned the bottle upside down on his last drink, trying to get more liquor out as now, the used to be full bottle, was empty. He sighed before finishing his last drink. It was 2am, and the bar was closing soon. The bartender called Leon a cab that safely drove him to a hotel, checked him in, and got him into the room so he had a good place to stay the night. Leon crashed, falling asleep as soon as his intoxicated self hit the pillow.

Soon morning arose and Y/n was asleep. The sunlight hitting her face made her groan as she rolled over soon waking up. The moment her eyes opened the memories of last night flooded her mind. She sighed heavily before rubbing her face with her hands. She slowly sat up, wanting to cry already. She walked out of her bedroom and down the stairs grabbing her phone. Y/n looked at the screen. Not a single message or call from Leon. She sighed in defeat before dialing her fathers number. "Y/n! Honey! What do I owe the pleasure of this lovely call?" He asks. She stayed silent for a minute. " Y/n, is everything alright?" His voice speaks again. She took a deep breath. "Dad..." She sighs and looks down at her feet. "I wanna come home." She stated, her voice, weak and breaking. "What's wrong?" He asks geniunely. She felt as tears ran down her face now. "Leon, he-he....he left." She stated as more tears fell from her eyes as she was now crying on the phone to her dad. He sighs, he didn't need to ask any more questions. He knew exactly what happened and why. "I'm so sorry, sweetie." Y/n couldn't say anything. She just cried. "Listen honey, I won't be able to get you home right away, but if you make your way to Racoon City I'll be able to send a helicopter to pick you up there tomorrow morning." His voice speaks out. "Thanks Dad." She spoke softly. "Alright, I'll see you tomorrow." He spoke and then the phone call ended.

Leon that morning woke up, his head pounding. The sunlight shone through the hotel curtains, blinding him. He grabbed his phone looking at the time. "Shit!" Leon quickly grabbed his things, checked out and hopped in his jeep quickly driving away. Leon here had his first day of being a cop in Racoon City, and he was running late. Really Late. Once on the road, he got a minute to relax, and that when everything came back to him, the fight with Y/n, everything. He grabbed his phone looking down at it. Not one message or call from her. He sighed heavily and tried to focus on the road as he had quite the drive ahead of him.

Racoon City

Leon had finally arrived. He was standing in Racoon police station trying to wrap his head around everything. The zombie apoycolapse was apoun them. He still was having trouble processing it. But now that he was in the police station, he needed to find a way out. Supposedly, there is a secret passage way under the station and it used to be an old monument before turning into a police station. Leon was geared up in a R.P.D uniform. He holstered his gun and Marvin, a man from the police station that he was determined to save, gave him a knife that he also holstered. A loud bang was heard at the same entrance Leon came through when he first got there. He made his way over to the metal conveyor door and equipped his gun. The door came up slightly as someone grabbed it and tried pulling it up. So far legs were only shown before another came into veiw. "Die already you slimy bastard!" A voice spoke and Leon felt a slight pain in his chest. He knew that voice. The zombie fell to the ground and in that moment the conveyor door slid all the way up. Y/n had a gun pointed before realising who she was pointing it at. Her clothes were covered in blood and a knife was holstered at her hip. Leon slightly lowered the gun. She was the last person he would expect to be here. "Y/n?" He questioned. "Hello to you too, Leon." She spoke looking at him, her gun now lowered and holstered. She walked into the station, brushing past him. Y/n had pushed every single feeling she had for Leon, deep, deep down. Leon turned to her. "What? What are you doing here?" He questioned. "I dont think that's any of your business anymore." She stared coldly. Leon sighed. Y/n was right, it just hurt more than he was expecting.

Y/n moved her way over and saw Marvin. "Hello." He spoke. She smiled gently. "Hi." She replied. "Name's Marvin." He spoke offering her his hand. "Y/n." She stated shaking his hand. She looked around the area. "I see you know Leon." Marvin spoke. "Yeah, she my-...well." Leon spoke but now wasn't sure what to say, he just looked at Y/n. She looked right back at him also unsure of what to say. "We're just acquaintances." Leon spoke. Y/n felt that in her chest. Hearing him say that, hurt. She made sure not to show it but her heart just broke a little more. She couldn't believe that now that's all they were. Acquaintances. 4 years down the drain, all because she couldn't reveal who she actually was to him, just to now be acquaintances. Marvin was skeptical but knew he should just leave it alone. Plus it wasn't his business to pry or even know.
