"Nia." Her name softly fell from his lips and she soaked in his sweet breath like a pancake to syrup. Her eyes were low and she was watching his chest rise and fall. She couldn't look at him just yet. She was frozen in place.
With just this brazen...
There was something about Colin. Nia didn't know what it was about him that made her buzz. The minute he was within arms reach, she wanted to plant her lips on his.
So she did.
But it wasn't entirely her fault. She opened her apartment door at 6:45 pm on Wednesday night to find him wearing an all black casual outfit that practically screamed 'slut him out' - backwards turned baseball cap, tall socks, Nikes, hoochie daddy shorts and all.
He was early, holding a paper bag filled to the brim with snacks for their movie night in one hand, and had a bouquet of red roses in the other.
"Hi. These are for you." He extended the flowers while carefully stepping out of his shoes to ensure he didn't crease them.
"Thank you!" Nia pecked him on the lips and allowed her mouth to curve into a sly smile at how comfortably routine that felt as she scooped the flowers in her hands.

She headed to the kitchen to find a vase to put them in, Colin appearing behind her shortly after, carefully placing his goodie bag on her counter.
"They're beautiful." She centered them on her island and turned to face him. "Thank you seriously." She wrapped her arms around him.
"Not as beautiful as you, but it's the least I could do."
Nia looked up at him, through her lashes, her mouth in a pout as they stayed locked in their embrace. "I hope you're not still not apologizing."
"Uh," He exhaled into a grin. "If I say no Nia, will you stop looking at me like that?"
"Why?" Nia asked innocently.
Colin released his grip around her and gently pinned her to the island. Nia's body lit up feeling him pressed against her. He bent down and kissed Nia in the same way that unraveled her last weekend. The way that had ingrained the memory of his pink, soft, tender lips in her brain. Nia ran her fingers across his short hair as she held the back of his neck.
"Tell me why." She spoke in between kisses in moments when she needed breaths in a soft tone that made Colin hoist her up on the counter, nearly knocking the flowers and the groceries to the ground. They both laughed softly mid-kiss.
"That's why! I clearly lose my mind when I'm around you." He smiled as he eased her back onto the floor. "You're giving me flashbacks and while that shit was out of this world-" Colin softly pinched her chin as he looked down at her. "I don't want to be reckless with you, Nia."
"What does that mean?"
"It means that while I enjoy every second kissing you, touching your skin, and every beautiful fucking thing that happened in between last weekend - I want to take it as slow as you want to. Tell me what you need from me."
"I-" Nia hesitated to find the right words as his reverberated through her. He planted a slow, intentional peck on her lips.
