~Loving~ A Pam Fiction

Diary entry 8

January 18th 

It was one of the those days where are fire station has decided to leak through our roof but today there was a lot of leaks not just one. Yes our roof is old but i thought i will not leak as much as it has this month. The pipes are old but they should survive i mean we do have Mike here to fix it. The floor is a little crooked but i say we can survive a few more weeks. 

Right now, me and Sam are watching the drips go into our pots and pans. One of the pans are full and Elvis is trying to come downstairs as quick as he can to replace with a pot. He quickly switches them and catches a drip. 

"Well done, Elvis." Sam says and looks at the roof. It looks so old and ruined at this point.

"Oh dear." Elvis says as he scratches the back of his head. "I'm running out of pans. I've got nothing to cook my spaghetti in!" Well looks like lunch is gonna be late. 

"Don't worry Elvis. We won't be here for much longer." I said as i saw a drip from the roof come down, i quickly pushed the bowl next to me a tiny bit and the bowl catches it. Phew. 

Sam started to speak up again as i looked up at the ceiling. "It's still a while until the new fire station is built." He has got a point. "I just hope we have enough pans to last until then." That's when we heard talking from the office and 3 men come out. 

"It's no good Station Officer Steele." Not a good sign there. "I have been tinkering with your flange joints all morning and i'm afraid that your pipes are just to old." That's when Chief Fire Officer Boyce added "...And the roof needs replacing and the floors are crooked.."  This is not looking good. 

Just as i wanted to speak up, Station Officer Steele got there first. "Oh dear! well i suppose we could struggle through for a few more weeks." He said as i found myself looking at my two co-workers who looked just as worried as i did. "No! I'm sorry, Norris. I'm not sure we could struggle through a few more hours. For safety purposes, we're going to shut your fire station down to tonight." 

That's when i froze for a second. Our fire station? The one i have known since i started working here? The fire station i love and get to laugh with the boys in? No no no. I blinked away some tears that had threated me to fall due to how sad leaving a fire station i have known since i was 20 could be and spoke up. "Tonight?!?" 

We all looked at eachother as Station Officer Boyce spoke up. "Keep calm, firefighters." He said in a calm tone. "We have a Mobile Command Unit, while your waiting for the new fire station to be built." 

Sam started to walk around as he looked around with his blue sea eyes. "Be a shame to leave the old place, though." That's when Elvis voice spoke. "I wonder if there'll be any emergencies on our last night." Just in time we heard the fax machine started to beep and Sir ran to it. 

"Trevor Evans bus is dangling over the edge of Pontpandy cliffs, and it's full of passengers!" He spoke  into the loudspeakers and we ran to grab our helmets as Sam told us what to do. "Penny, Elvis you take Venus. I'll take Mercury."

We quickly nodded and ran to Venus before driving over there quickly. Sam was driving in front of us as i tries to be careful of the icy roads. As much as i love Winter due to me and my mom's birthday plus Christmas. It can also be dangerous. Soon enough i saw Lambykins on the road and i made a note to grab her later to bring her back to her field. I do wonder if she had a part in the accident tho. 

When arrived at the scene, my heart dropped. The bus was so close to falling of the cliff and our friends were in there! We didn't have much time. I saw Sam get of Mercury and rans over to Venus grabbing the winch. "Elvis! Follow me! Penny! I need you to stay at the wheel!" 

"Rodger that, Sam!" We both said as Elvis left the vehicle and followed Sam. Sam ran to the bus with the winch and quickly jumped into the air just as the bus moved more back. He got it in and landed on the snow. "Back her up, Penny!" Sam shouted to be and i quickly put her in reverse. 

But as i knew she didn't have enough strength to pull her back up.  "She can't take the weight!" I said to Sam and he quickly moved to the door of the bus "Elvis, get ready to move the passengers!" Sam instructed and Elvis nods. Sam told the passengers to slowly get off the bus and be careful.  

Soon enough all the passenger and Trevor was off apart from one, Dilys! That's when Sam shouted at me "Keep her steady, Penny! I'm going in!" And i gave a quick response off. "I'll try, Sam!" And he went in the bus. 

Only a few seconds later and the bus have moved more backwards. I can't loose them, i can't loose him. "Hurry, Sam!" I said to myself as i kept trying to keep her steady. Then i saw them come out but the danger was not over yet, i along with Venus was getting pulled to the edge of the cliff with the bus! 

"I can't stop it, Sam!" I shouted to him and he quickly turned to Elvis. "Elvis get the wire cutters! Stand back everyone!" That's when i saw him, run over to the winch and try to pull it back with me. The bus couldn't be saved and soon enough we wouldn't be saved either. 

"Sam!" Elvis shouted and ran over with the wire cutters. Sam quickly took them and cut the winch. We are safe...but the bus isn't. I heard a bang at the bottom and winced. I failed to save the bus just because i wasn't strong enough and Venus was not strong...to others it would just be a normal day of the job but to me it was another close call...

That's when panic started to settle in me and i closed my eyes for a moment. It was getting really hot in Venus and i felt my body couldn't move. No. No. No. Not now!
