Once upon a time everyone had soulmates. Well everyone still does but back then they cherished their mate. Their other half. Reina always dreamed of meeting the love, the center of her life. She wanted what her parents have. Everyday they say I love you and kiss before going separate ways to work. To them it's like the world didn't exist, it was just them. But it didn't last long. Reina was 10 when her mom died in a car accident. She watched her dad's symbol turn black and him shut down. She heard stories what would happen if someone lost their soulmate. They called them broken souls. But it was worse now that she watch her dad slowly die. He tried for his little reina to stay sane but after 7 years he couldn't hold on. He left to be with his other half.

Reina was 17 now. She watch them put her dad down in his grave next to her mom. They were back together and that made Reina happy. She now lived with her grandpa Hal. He never found his soulmate. He was special. He was a lost soul as they called them. But he found reina ' s grandma and had her dad and uncle. Her grandma died when Reina was born. So she never really met her. But she still heard stories. Her grandma was a lost soul too. They never had a mark. Reina thought maybe her grandparents were soulmates in another way.

Present day

Reina, "I'm going out with Jen. I'll be back by 12." Hal, "be safe little one." She rolled her eyes and left to jen's house. Jen, "ready to go to this party?" Reina, "sure." Jen gossiped, "so I heard from Josh that heard from Hanna that heard from Izzy that she hired a band." I guess the main singer is H-O-T." I, "We won't know until we see ourselves." Jen, "so Kate found her soulmate. Lucky her. She's barely 18." I chuckled, "well I'm happy for her. She gets more time with her mate." Jen, "I don't want to met my soul mate. I want to live free and wild." Reina, "say that to your soulmates face then I'll believe you." Reina, "anyway. How does it feel to be almost 18. The age to start finding you mate?" She winked at the end. I laughed, "I'll meet him when I meet him. I pulled up to a field. There were a lot of people already here. we got out. I locked the car. Jen, "this band better be good." It was a bit chilly for a summer night. I snickered, "next time don't wear shorts." She grumbled and continued to the crowd. Izzy popped up out of no where. Izzy, "glad you could make it Reina and Jen." Jen, "when is the band coming out?" Izzy, "any minute." We walked toward the middle. I saw Tim and Kevin. Jen, "Tim my main man." The laughed and hugged. Kevin, "so Kate really found her soulmate? " I, "yup. A guy from California or something. I'm sorry Kevin. You'll find you mate soon." He smiled at me. I gave him a side hug. Kevin, "happy early birthday. " I, "thank you." The light dimmed and people got quiet. Five guys came out. Colorful light came on. The main sing was captivating. Main sing, "hello I'm Damon and we are selfless universe." They started to play. His voice was angelic. He looked through the crowd. His eyes stopped to me. It felt like we were the only two here.

Jen was talking to Cody. I walked around. I saw the band. Many girls were hanging off Damon. He looked up and caught me staring. I quickly looked away and continued to walk. I felt someone grab my hand. I turned and saw him. Damon, "hey." My hand tingled. I whispered, "hi." Damon, "um what's your name?" I mumbled, "Reina." He smiled and said, "beautiful name." I mumbled, "thanks." Damon, "want to go somewhere more quiet?" I nod. He pulled me out of the crowd. Damon, "I saw you in the crowd. I had to get your name." I blushed and looked away. Damon, "hey don't look away. You're too beautiful." I smiled. I, "thank you." We talked a little bit. He told me about him touring all small places. I told him how I got accepted into MIT. He looked shocked. We continued to talk. Damon, "it's always been my dream to be big. Be someone." I, "you'll make it. I know you will." I squeezed his hand. He looked at me and started to lean in. I leaned in too. Our lips touched softly. It felt like home. We pulled away. "Reina!!!! We have to go!!!" It was jen. I, "I'm sorry but I have to go." Jen came out of no where. Jen, "it's 11:59." I turned and waved. He smiled. I felt a heart beat in my right wrist. Jen continued to pull me away.

I ran into the house. I, "I'm sorry I'm late." I saw grandpa sleeping in his chair. I woke him up and walked him to his room. I tucked him in and went to my room. I fell asleep instantly.
