Chapter 13: Apprehension VisitI came back to the dorm the next day with no breakfast. I just wanted to leave the Valencourt mansion so bad.
"Was is that bad?"
"Horrible," I muttered. "The whole place was covered in thin air, and it was hard to breathe. Mas gugustuhin kong hindi umuwi para hindi siya makita."
She frowned. "But he'll be at the apprehension visit this coming week kaya makikita mo pa rin siya."
My eyebrow creased. "What visit?"
"Olivia," Alice sighed, hindi makapaniwala na nakalimutan ko ang tungkol dito. "Next week is the foundation week. That means senior students will have to work our assess off to impress the families who will visit the academy."
"Like an open house?"
"I don't know what that means but yes, and we will be graded by the parents based on our performance, activities, presentation, tours, whatever."
"Hindi ba katatapos lang ng assessment test natin? Can't they give us a break?"
"Well," Alice muttered. "Our break is breathing and sleeping and that's it."
Every senior student in the academy was busy for the next few days, considering not everyone's happy that their parents would visit the campus. After the conversation with father, I kind of understood why. There was a long line in the school phonebooths, and students already looked frustrated.
"Hindi man lang natin ma-enjoy ang foundation week," reklamo ni Alice. "Every student is enjoying the holidays except for us. Ngayon alam ko na kung bakit ayaw ng mga senior students ang foundation week."
Tapos na ang klase namin, but the whole class remained in the room that afternoon to discuss the possible plans for the upcoming foundation week.
"Hindi ba isa ito sa basehan ng internship program?" inquired one of our classmates.
"I can't even look forward to the dance this Friday," another one muttered.
"For sure, I would look stress in my gown."
I tried to raise the class' morale dahil maging si Alice hindi gustong gumalaw. "We'll have the tour in our list of activities and hopefully, it would take the entire morning. By afternoon, we just need to present the achievements of this year's senior students. We can do it without any hassle."
"Yeah," they mumbled halfheartedly.
We no longer had time to enjoy the festivities. We were busy compiling achievements, checking the tour paths, creating presentations and speeches.
The day before the visit, I was alone in the classroom making a speech for the presentation. The task somehow landed on me because Olivia seemed the perfect student for it.
Liam stood at the doorway with several coffee cups and his ever-pleasant smile.
"I brought some coffee."
He placed them on a nearby table bago lumapit sa 'kin. There were times when it still baffled me how Liam looked so much like a prince in those silly fairytale books.
"You're lucky you get to skip this one," I muttered, scratching a phrase on the paper.
"Internship benefits," he chuckled. He sat on a chair opposite mine and watched me stress over writing.
"Where's everyone?"
"Checking the tour grounds. Do you know our tour can't collide with the other section's tour and we learned about it only this morning? We had to rearrange the entire tour and Alice is losing her mind." I leaned against the chair.
