from previous chapter: my thoughts were interrupted by footsteps. I quickly put the envelope in my coat and turned towards the main passage. "what are you doing here at this hour?"

"merlin Mattheo" I exhaled, breathing a sigh of relief at the sight of a familiar face. "Aurora, you should go to sleep," the boy leaned against the door frame. "at least you act like you're in a better situation" "I couldn't sleep" he rubbed his eyes.
"oh don't act stupid, you followed me. the library is the last place you would go of your own free will" he rolled his eyes at my comment and narrowed his eyes "you figured me out" he spread his hands in the act surrender.
"listen Aurora, I'm sorry for what happened, I acted like-" "like an asshole" I finished for him" "yes" he scratched his head awkwardly. "I'm fed up with all of you," I said, wanting the boy to leave the library as soon as possible.
"so it's over?" "for the moment, certainly. I need space, which hasn't existed at all lately" Mattheo didn't look happy "I understand, I hope we can still be friends, it's a pity to waste our friendship" "sure"
I nodded. "great, good night Aurora, go to sleep, it's already late" "I'll find the book I came here for and go back to the room, good night." The boy left the library and I took the envelope out of my pocket.
I headed towards the section with books and scrolls on rune translation. most of them were in Latin, so they could help me translate the letter. My attention was caught by a book in a leather cover with a title written in bold italics and gold paint.
"Ibi et retro". it wasn't placed high, so I took it off the shelf without any problems. I blew away the dust that had settled on its back. apparently no one has used it for a long time. I put it in my bag and went to the dormitory.

morning
Last night I came back so late that I didn't even remove my makeup. with the first thought that appeared in my head, I was overcome with anxiety. that evening I had to see Professor Riddle again.
However, I put it aside, sending a warm smile to Liza, who had already gotten up some time ago. "Where are you Aurora, I thought something had happened to you" I rubbed my eyes "I had to look for a book in the library"
"we're worried about you" I rose to a sitting position, putting on my slippers. "everything is under control, I just have a lot on my mind"
I bypassed my friend and went to the bathroom where I washed off the remnants of yesterday's makeup and put on a new one. I put on my uniform in the bedroom. My friend and I went for breakfast where the rest of our friends were waiting for us.

lessons passed quite quickly that day. in the end, there was the unfortunate Defense Against the Dark Arts. During less important lessons, I repeated the material so that Riddle wouldn't surprise me with any questions.
And so it happened. despite calling me twice for an answer, he failed to answer correctly twice. However, he did not comment on it in any way. After class, as he asked, I stayed in the classroom. "Come to the desk Aurora"
I walked over to where he was sitting. he looked me up and down. "you look more confident today than last night" he raised one eyebrow. "Considering what happened yesterday, your comment is at least inappropriate, Professor"

Riddle's perspective:
something had changed in her since yesterday and I liked that fact immensely. when I first saw her, I thought there was something about her that caught my attention. she was already attracting attention.
tall, slim, green-eyed, snow-white blonde. despite the imposed attire, she did not follow the rules. She outlined her large eyes with black eyeliner, which contrasted with the color of her hair.
I often watched her while she talked to her friends, and the way she spoke fascinated me. Lately, though, she's been giving the impression of a scared lamb.
it means she was weak, it was easy to throw her off balance. However, last night... something seemed to break inside her, some barrier was broken. she was now standing in front of me, ready to scream everything in her soul to my face.
pushing her to the limits of her mental strength built resilience in her. suffering strengthens people, and at the very end it pushes them to actions in which they forget what the word morality means. that's what I needed.
Aurora Janess was undoubtedly a powerful witch and she undoubtedly didn't know it. frequent nosebleeds, full-blown insomnia and above-average intelligence. there was always a piece of blood-stained handkerchief sticking out of her sleeve, and even though she didn't get a full night's sleep, on those days I found her curled up on the windowsill of the main corridor, with a cigarette in her hand.
these were all signs, signs she couldn't read. a great witch with great power that she has no idea about. she was perfect as a tool in the hands of someone equally powerful. you just need to use the appropriate techniques to wrap it around your finger.
she was a teenage girl who was unlucky in the love she so desperately wanted. it was the easiest and fastest way to get closer to her. however, everything had to be done in order, and I had to make sure that there was a thin line between her hatred and feelings for me, easily driving her to the extreme emotions that I needed so much.

back to Aurora's perspective
"None of this would have happened if you had known how to behave," the man replied dryly.
