—— Alfred's POV
-Minutes before Jason Arrived-It's been a long while since Alfred last had a request like this from Master Jason. And usually, his requests are specifically the opposite! He usually tries to avoid the others when he comes to the Batcave. So to hear him request everyone awake. And to wait for him in the living room of the Manor. He did it without fuss, without questions.
But deep down, he couldn't help but wonder what had changed.
He noticed the way he talked when they were on the phone, his voice alone had a certain joy to it, as if he was free of a weight that was holding him down. No bark, no growl. Pure relief and joy.
As Alfred brought a grumbling Duke and Damien to the Living room. He glanced around and mentally counted that everyone is here.
Bruce looked a bit worried, but more confusion was evident on his stoic face, "Alfred, can you tell us what's going on?"
Alfred hummed gently, "I'm afraid not, Master Bruce. I wasn't given much context on to why he wanted us all here. But I'm sure it must be important if he wanted everyone up for this."
Grumbles and nods of agreement was All he got in response to his statement. Which is fine, but still they forget Jason really isn't one to do something like this, unless it's something very important.
Tim huffed a bit annoyed, but by the way he had his arms crossed, lost in thought. It was clear he, along with everyone else was worried about Master Jason.
He hummed once more and looked at the clock, 2 minutes till Master Jason should be arriving, "If you'll excuse me, but I shall be waiting by the door for Master Jason's Arrival. And I'll escort him straight here." With that said, Alfred turned to the living room door and closed it behind him, as he slowly made his way back to the front door of the manor. It wasn't much of a walk, but it gave him time, to draw out the two minutes as long as possible.
It also gave him time to think.
"I sure hope it's good news.." Alfred muttered under his breath to himself when he heard a car door outside the house close and then another open and close a moment later. Making Alfred realize he brought company.
'Perhaps he brought over his mister or mistress?' Alfred thought to himself when he heard a firm knock on the door.
Time to see what is may be.
As Alfred opened the door, he couldn't help but smile when he was greeted with the sight of his favorite grandson, dressed in a tight fitting red T shirt and gray pajama pants. A blindly bright smile clear as day on his face as he stared at him. But what he did notice was that he was alone?
'So why did i-' Alfred quickly cut him thoughts off as he saw a small bundle in Jason's arms from his peripheral and looked down.
His heart may have stopped for a second before quickening to a steady, fast rate. And a gasp managed to break past his defenses.
Right there in his grandsons arms, was as 1 year old baby boy, fast asleep in a starry night blanket. His head full of fluffy yet gravity defying messy black hair, his pale skin glistening under the moonlight as a trail of drool shined brightly under the light.
Alfred could feel the tears pooling in his eyes as he began to hope this is what he thinks it is. His hands twitching ever so slightly till Jason spoke.
"Hey, Alfie... I would like you to meet Danny..." Alfred couldn't help it, but his smile grew ever more brighter, "My newly adopted son. Entrusted to me, by Lady Gotham. The Spirit, of the very city we protect."
