She wasn't surprised Branch was clinging to her like this.
All of his big brothers had left so of course he would cling to her.
He was clinging to her dress as she walked around the kitchen to get dinner ready, trying not to trip over him.
She sighed, "Honey, you need to let go, just for a moment, okay?"
She watched his eyes fill with tears, "But..then you'll leave too..."
She picked him up, "No my little blueberry, I won't leave anytime soon. I'm right here.."
Branch cuddled up to her and refused to let her go.
She sighed again and then went back to cooking dinner while holding Branch on her hip.
But Branch didn't look ready to cry anymore so she relaxed a bit.
She did have to set him down a few minutes later though, just to set the table and hand out the food.
She set him in his high chair, which caused him to whine and try to cling onto her.
She looked at him and bit her lip, she picked him up and sat him on her lap.
It appears that his brothers leaving affected him much more then she'd originally thought..
