Emery POV
I am now sitting in history class, bored out of my skull. When I see a guy I never saw before sitting next to me.
He waved at me and I waved back with a smile.
"Once our home state of Virginia joined confederacy in 1861, it created a tremendous amount of tension within the state. People in Virginia's northwest region had different ideals than those from the traditional deep south. Then Virginia divided in 1863 with the northwest region joining the union. " Mr. Tanner drones on.
History class passed fast thankfully.
Later Me, Matt and Tyler were sitting at a table, Tylers arm is draped behind me on the booth.
Vicky gives me and Matt a drink.
"Thank you Vicky." I say with a smile
"No problem." She says with a smile
"Thanks, Vick."Matt says
"Do you need another refill?" Vicky asks Tyler
" I'd love one." Tyler says
Vicki leaves the table.
" Please tell me you're not hooking up with my sister." Matt says
" I'm not hooking up with your sister." Tyler says
"You're such a dick." Matt says
"Now boys play nice." I say
Tyler gets up and leaves and Bonnie arrives,
"How's Elena doing?" Matt says
"Their mom and dad died. How do you think? She's putting on a good face, but it's only been four months." Bonnie says looking over at me
"Sorry." Matt says looking over at me
I just shrug
" Has she said anything about me?" Matt asked
" Oh, no. So not getting in the middle. You pick up the phone and call her." Bonnie says
" I feel weird calling her. She broke up with me." Matt says
" Give it more time, Matt." Bonnie says
I see Elena walk in with the guy from history class
" More time, huh?" Matt says
He walks over to Elena and the guy I follow
" Hey, I'm Matt, nice to meet you." Matt says
" Hi. Stefan." Stefan says
Stefan looks over at me,
"Oh I'm Emery." I say with a smile
"Nice to meet you." Stefan says
" Hey." Elena says
"Hey." Matt says
We are all now sitting at a table.
"So, you were born in Mystic Falls?" Caroline asks
" Mm-Hmm. And moved when I was still young." Stefan says
" Parents?" Bonnie asked
" My parents passed away." He says
" I'm sorry. " Elena says
"Sorry." I say
"Any siblings?" Elena asked
" None that I talk to. I live with my uncle." Stefan says
" So, Stefan, if you're new, then you don't know about the party tomorrow." Caroline says
" It's a back to school thing at the falls." Bonnie says
" Are you two going?" He asked me and Elena
" Of course They are." Bonnie says
How the hell did I just get roped into this.
We're in History class
" The Battle of Willow Creek took place right at the end of the war in our very own Mystic Falls. How many casualties resulted in this battle? Ms. Bennett?" Mr. Tanner says
" Um...a lot? I'm not sure. Like a whole lot." Bonnie says
"Cute becomes dumb in an instant, Ms. Bennett. Mr. Donovan? Would you like to take this opportunity to overcome your embedded jock stereotype?" Mr. Tanner says
"It's okay, Mr. Tanner, I'm cool with it." Matt says
I chuckle along with some of the class
" Hmm. Elena? Emery? Surely you two can enlighten us about one of the town's most significantly historical events?" Mr. Tanner says
" I'm sorry, I--I don't know." She says
"No." I say
" I was willing to be lenient last year for obvious reasons, Elena, Emery. But the personal excuses ended with summer break." Mr. Tanner says
" There were 346 casualties. Unless you're counting local civilians." Stefan says
"That's correct. Mister...?" Mr. Tanner says
"Salvatore." Stefan says
" Salvatore. Any relation to the original settlers here at Mystic Falls?" Mr. Tanner says
" Distant." Stefan says
"Well, very good. Except, of course, there were no civilian casualties in this battle." Mr. Tanner says
" Actually, there were 27, sir. Confederate soldiers, they fired on the church, believing it to be housing weapons. They were wrong. It was a night of great loss. The founder's archives are, uh, stored in civil hall if you'd like to brush up on your facts, Mr. Tanner." Stefan says
"Hmm." Mr. Tanner says not amused
I see Elena getting ready for the lame party. But I decide not to go.
"You're not going?" She asked
"No, but have fun." I say as I'm reading a book.
"Okay.. thanks." She says and leaves
