"I hate Marin, and Cordelia, and Thalassa. Just mermaids in general." I picked up a shell.

"Tell me about it, it's always mermaid this mermaid that." My friend, Mira added, rolling her eyes.

"Be honest, the most mermaids can do is talk to animals. Sirens can do so much more."

"Exactly, have you heard that story the humans made? Ariel saved one man and left, she never married him or fought Ursula. Ursula's never even done anything bad, she's amazing, and Ariel's not even a Siren and that's obvious, she can't shift and she doesn't have a song being just two of the many reasons." I listened to Mira rant, agreeing to every little bit.

"First of all, her hands aren't webbed, she doesn't have nails like us." She put her hand up, spreading her fingers to display the webs between and her nails.

"She doesn't have as elaborate tails as us, plus their not even that strong. They don't have extra fins, their eyes aren't the same, and they don't even have facial markings." She went on, not one word she said was wrong.

"I thought we were talking about Ariel, not all mermaids." I giggled.

"I mean, yeah, but it's true." She shrugged.

I smiled, slightly covering my mouth with my hand. I looked up noticing the sunlight through the water start to dim.

"We should head back now." I advised.

We were close to shore, being cautious to not be too close to the surface though. Soon we heard a commotion from above, looking up I saw two other sirens, Adira and Gali. Those girls are always trouble, sirens like them are the reason we have such a bad reputation. I saw both the girls pushing a boat back and fourth, most likely trying to get someone off it. I didn't pay mind to it but I had this gut feeling I should help. The person in the boat was eventually thrown off and currently being drowned by the girls. I darted up to them, prying their arms off the person and swimming him to shore. The girls didn't bother to try and get the man back. Poking my head out of the water to find a secluded spot, I spotted an area surrounded by rocks. Gently lying the man down on the sand. Not wanting to fully get out of the water due to my lack of energy, I made sure to put the man's upper half of his body the farthest from the waves, his legs still partially in the water.

Im gonna regret this later.

Soon he started coughing up water, I immediately shifted, not wanting to risk being killed. The man opened his eyes and sat up, scanning his surroundings until his eyes landed on me. He started backing away onto his feet.

"Wh- who are you?" He questioned.

"Zara, your welcome for saving you." I rolled my eyes, standing up as well.

"Zara! Zara! Oh there you are I thought I lost you." Mira stuck her head out of the water, not realizing a human was right in front of us.

The man I just saved looked at Mira then me in disbelief. Mira finally realizing she was still in siren form shifted to human form, her webbed ears quickly Turing to peach colored human ears and her eyes that were once an icy blue turned green. Now fully coming out of the water she put her hands up, signaling she wasn't a threat.

"Oh, honey, you must have taken in a lot of water, you look like you just saw a ghost." She put a hand on the man's shoulder, trying to manipulate him into thinking what he just saw was a hallucination. She's very good at doing that.

"Zara, dear, don't you think we should bring him to the health clinic?" She put her other hand on her chest, displaying a "worried" look on her face.

"Yes, of course." I said I walking up to the man, me and Mira guiding him to the clinic and leaving him on the front steps. Us running back to where Mira found me and the man.
