There was a desk and an empty chair behind it with a hat on the seat, I'm assuming that's the captains hat. I notice a door in the corner of the room, the door knob turning, then open, revealing a man wearing a ruby red button down shirt, boots that stopped just below the knee, an off-white scarf wrapped around his waist, and a long coat like the man that brought me here except it was an almost black brown with the same ruby red on his shirt on the inside of the coat and gold swirls lining the edge of his coat that as well as his boots.

He stood in front of us both, his arms behind his back. "Who may this be, Stanton?"

"A thief, I found her stealing from the galley."

The captain nods. "What's your name?" The captain turns his body towards me, giving me his full attention.

"Zara."

"No last name? Why's that?"

"I lost my memory."

"I see. You were stealing, why?"

"If you didn't already know the town is on a food shortage, I'm also an orphan which makes getting my hands on food even harder."

The captain only nods.

"If you'd like, Zara, I can give you a job on the ship, you'd get free food and a family." He offers.

Stanton looks at the captain with disbelief. "Bu-" the captain puts a hand up, cutting him off.

My eyes light up at the offer. "Yes, I'll gladly take any job."

The captain grins and turns to his desk, putting his hat on before he sits in the chair. "Stanton, we have one extra room for her to stay in, get her situated." He looks at me. "We'll start moving in ten, by then it'll be dark, I'd recommend you grab anything you need that isn't on this ship or in the bag-" he raises his brow at my bag. "Now, and make it quick."

I nod and run for the door, I open it but don't leave until I say "Thank you, sir." I then run to the abandoned house and grab all my dolls and clothes and stuff them in my bag, then dart back to the ship.

Once on the ship I try to spot Stanton, looking all over the deck, past the many faces of crew members. I was gonna give up searching before I felt a hand on my shoulder. I look behind me to spot the captain.

"I apologize, Stanton is busy at the moment."

"That's fine."

"Let me show you to your quarters." The captain walks away, me following close behind.

We walk down a long hallway all the way to the end, he opens the door for me to reveal an empty room with just a bed, a bedside table, and dresser with drawers.

"This is the only room with a bed, the others got hammocks, you got lucky." The captain explains.

I walk inside and lay my bag on my bed.

"Rest well, Zara." He closes the door and I hear the thump of his boots start to quiet down as he walks away from the door.

I changed into one of my nightgowns then got in bed. It's not the softest but I'll have to get used to it, it is a pirate ship after all. I close my eyes, hugging a doll Miss. Ray made me.
