Third Person Pov
"Wait."
All heads turned at the sound of the voice, the hoarse voice everyone would have thought to be Lizzie but it was not in fact her.
A certain blonde.
Scarlett.
"I can't do this today." Savannah said, continuing towards the elevator. Chris didn't utter a word he followed his daughter.
Things didn't need to be more complicated than what they already were but Savannah couldn't help but think maybe talking to Scarlett would be for the better.
She quickly shut that thought down. Savannah and Chris left, leaving Scarlett alone with the twins and Lizzie's mother, Jarnette.
"So, Scarlett. Care to explain why you're here?" MK questioned the woman, she could tell the woman was not in the best state, but she didn't care. Her little sister is in the hospital hurt and this woman was the last person she wanted to see right now.
"I wanted to see my friend. Savannah being here was just a coincidence." Scarlett explained, MK didn't seem to believe it but she just went silent.
"Sure, Savannah being here was just a 'coincidence'. My sister is in there hurt and you're trying to mend your shitty relationship with your daughter." MK chucked, anyone would be able to see the anger displayed on her face.
Scarlett looked over at the quiet Jarnette and Ashley. Jarnette was like a mother to Scarlett.
"That's not why I'm here, I promise. My relationship with my daughter has nothing to do with you so butt out." Scarlett told her, getting fed up with her attitude. Her response must've sparked something in MK.
"The relationship you have with Savannah is non-existent. My sister, you know the one you have disrespected for months on end without a care in the world has been more of a mother to your daughter than you have in years, Scarlett. I don't know what shitty game you're playing at but it shouldn't be played here. Maybe you should leave." MK spat at the woman, getting closer and closer.
"MK!" Jarnette and Ashley yelled in disbelief. They both knew how protective she could get over Lizzie but never knew to what extent.
"MK with me. Now." Ashley demanded her twin. MK scoffed but nevertheless followed behind Ashley.
With the twins walking away that left Scarlett alone with Jarnette.
"I'm Sorry." Scarlett cried, looking at Lizzie through the doorway. She felt so broken. She lost her best friend and her daughter within a couple months.
"You should be. Lizzie has always wanted you to step up for Sav. Goodness, my poor baby wished on every birthday, every prayer just for her mother to come back. It broke everyone's heart all the time." Jarnette informed Scarlett, staring at her daughter with tears streaming down her face.
Scarlett just bowed her head, she had no more words. They both stood in silence but it wasn't an uncomfortable silence.
"Things that are broken can't always be fixed, but they can be mended." Jarnette randomly spoke, her eyes not leaving the unconscious woman.
"I just don't know where to start." Scarlett whispered, she always knew how to handle something in some type of way but this just felt impossible to her.
"Start with a conversation, without forcing it. If anybody needs space let it be." Jarnette advises. Maybe a talk with Jarnette was something she needed, she felt more confident.
Her confidence didn't last very long when she realized MK and Ashley were back.
Ashley didn't say a word but walked to Scarlett and engulfed her in a hug, taking her by surprise but she quickly reciprocated.
"Lizzie and Savannah are alike in many ways, they always listen to a person's reasoning. Even if they don't want to. Maybe just try talking to them, either one of them. I know Lizzie isn't in the best condition right now but I do know that she can hear you." Ashley smiled, pulling away from the woman. Scarlett couldn't do anything but stare at the wall in front of her.
Jarnette and Ashley seemed to have walked off with some doctors because when Scarlett was out of her daze, both women were gone. Leaving her with MK.
MK started to speak but Scarlett quickly cut her off. "I really don't want to hear anything you have to say to me right now." Scarlett sighed, MK didn't listen though.
"I just wanted to apologize. For everything I said, it might have been true but it wasn't right." MK apologized, it wasn't the best apology but it was best she would get from her. "Thank you. That means a lot." Scarlett smiled.
'Maybe Scarlett will try harder. As long as it's not with Chris.' A trapped voice thought.
"There's not much I can do, MK." Scarlett spoke, out of the blue. MK has a certain outlook on things that always helps clear one's perspective.
"Well, Savannah will be hard to get to talk to you but she will eventually talk to you. You might not like what she'll say but it does end up being true." MK tells the blonde.
'MK sure does give good advice, sometimes at least.' The voice thought, once again.
Jarnette and Ashely came back with smiles.
"Doctors said she would wake up within 24 hours." Jarnette shared the news with the other women. The twins and Jarnette are ecstatic knowing their daughter and sister will awaken soon but Scarlett couldn't help but feel troubled.
"I'm just gonna go see Lizzie for a second before I leave." Scarlett said, barely above a whisper. Leaving the other women confused.
"What's with her now?" MK questioned, quite annoyed with the blonde.
She may have apologized but that barely changed her feelings about the woman. She's tolerating the woman, not much patience to wear down.
"MK, we have to understand everything Scarlett is going through." Jarnette told the younger twin, she was quite sympathetic for the woman.
"That doesn't justify everything that's happened." MK argued in disbelief with the change of her mom's perspective.
"Mom's right, MK. Scarlett lost her only chance she thought she had with her daughter and her best friend is currently fighting for her life." Ashley battles against her twin, it wasn't very often Ashley decided to go against her twin but it felt right to her at this moment.
"I can't believe you're siding with her." MK scoffed, not happy with her sister. "There's no sides, MK. I just know it would be a lot for anybody to through. Especially alone." Ashley explained, still earning a scoff from her twin.
"She's not alone, she has a husband, kids, and a whole family." MK reminded her sister, "She had two more kids after Sav, do you remember how many days she would cry to us and Lizzie about wanting her mom? I can't bear to see her go through that again." MK started to cry, surprising Ashely and Jarnette with her sudden emotion.
Ashley quickly went to her sister and engulfed her in a hug meanwhile their mother just looked at MK suspiciously.
"What are you playing at?" The older woman whispered, she didn't understand what her daughter was up to but she knew it wasn't any good.
"Maybe we should all just head home. This seems to be affecting us more than we thought" Ashley suggested, earning a nod from her mother and sister. Soon after she said that Scarlett emerged from Lizzie's room with tears staining her eyes.
Scarlett decided not to acknowledge the concerned looks from 2 of the 3 woman. "Maybe this is all a cruel dream." Scarlett accidentally spoke out loud.
"Well unfortunately, it's not. So get your head out of your ass and live in this shitty reality." MK snapped, getting herself concerned looks from the women.
"MK." Jarnette scolded, getting frustrated with her daughter's attitude . Yes, MK is an adult and can do whatever she wants but she didn't raise MK to be rude, especially when they are going through things.
"Whatever I'm leaving." MK said, packing her bags. Leaving the other women confused at her attitude.
