It was already Thursday. The week had practically gone by in the blink of an eye for Bruce. It wasn't a bad thing though, because he was just growing excited to see Vance's performance. He found out that Vance played guitar for the band, only playing drums on the side. Vance even let him play his guitar a bit, even though he wasn't too good at it.
At lunch Bruce sat with Billy and Robin as usual, but today Billy invited a girl named Donna. Bruce sort of knew her. She was really only friends with Billy and Finney, and she attended him and Finney's baseball games. She also was in orchestra, but a lower one than Bruce or Finney.
"I saw Vance at your locker today," Donna commented, locking eyes with Bruce. "He slipped some paper in there. What was it?" She asked, earning interested nods from the other two boys.
Bruce shrugged carelessly, "it was nothing you need to worry 'bout." It was just that pass for Vance's gig, and he felt as if he didn't need to tell them. He knew his friends would flip out if they found out him and Vance were hanging out. He honestly hated hiding him, but he also hated the thought of losing friends.
Plus, truthfully, he knew his feelings weren't just friendly for Vance. He couldn't pinpoint his own feelings, but he knew they weren't normal in societal standards. Vance gave Bruce a kick of energy that he had always craved.
"Not everyday that Vance's slips stuff in peoples lockers, Bruce," Billy added, a deep sigh coming from him. "Are you and him friends?" Billy asked, glancing behind him to Vance, who was staring. When Vance realised Billy was staring at him he shot him a death glare that sent shivers down his spine.
Bruce stared at the looks his friends were giving him. "Why do you care," Bruce huffed, rolling his eyes as he watched Vance pass through the hallway next to the cafeteria. Billy opened his mouth, only to be shut down by Bruce. "I'm not 'friends' with him," Bruce lied quickly, seeing the suspicious looks from Robin and Billy, "and don't even think about instigating the thought of it."
His friends nodded, but Bruce deep down knew they'd try something. He also knew there was no way to stop them from finding out about him and Vance, and at this point he was just waiting for it to all blow up in his face. "We're just worried you could be getting yourself into something," Robin commented.
"Well I'm not, so no need to worry," Bruce sighed before giving them a soft smile. "Plus, aren't you supposed to be his friend?" He raised his eyebrow as he looked Robin right in the eye.
Robin got quiet, murmuring a small, "yeah."
Luckily before anything else awkward could happen, the bell rung. Bruce took a deep breath as he walked into art class. He gave a small smile before seeing a certain girl sitting across from where him and Bruce sat. Georgia. Bruce cursed under his breath as he went and sat down. He was still sort of pissed at Georgia, so he hadn't really spoken to her. "Hey, babe," Georgia softly, and shyly smiled.
"Not in the mood, Georgia," Bruce sighed, shaking his head and watching the door. He was sort of praying Vance would come in, even though he knew Georgia wouldn't keep her eyes off him.
It brought him comfort when the blond walked in and gave him a smile. Bruce saw as Vance gave Georgia a weird, fake smile. "Hey, Yamada," Vance nodded as he sat down next to Bruce.
"Hey, Vance," Bruce smiled sweetly at Vance, glancing at Georgia for her reaction. She had a little shocked look on her face before putting on a smile.
"Hi, Vance!" She squealed as she rested her chin on the palms of her hands. Bruce scowled at her, and Vance saw that. Vance felt sort of bad about that. Bruce had told him it was fine than Georgia was into him and that it wasn't his fault, but clearly Bruce had different feelings about it.
