"Hey girl, you ready?" Levi asked me as I finished clocking out. It's been 6 months since our first "date" around Christmas and we are going on about 5 months officially together.

"Yeah, I'm coming."

"So, my sister wants Kai to come with, she adores him."

"Everyone does, I've got my hands full with that boy!"

"Do we need to pick him up from David and Helen's place?"

"No, Courtney's, she has his car seat too."

"Alright, we'll pick him up, run by your place, then to Vania's for dinner."

"Great!"

"Did you make up your mind on school? Are you going to finish?"

"I don't know, I only have an 8th grade education, I have 4 years left, the humiliation is excruciating."

"How'd you even get out of school that early? Earliest drop out age is 16."

"I just didn't go."

"And they didn't go after you?"

"No one knew where I was, they probably went to mom and dad, but they didn't know either."

"Y'know without it you're stuck working in places like KaffeBöna and fast food. You need a high school degree, Kai's going to start needing a lot more too, you have to be able to provide for him."

"I know, but high school means taking time from work and seeing Kai even less."

"What about homeschool? Can you self study then test out?"

"Probably, but I don't know where to start."

"I do, I graduated top 10 in my class, I'll help you learn what you need to know."

"Wait, what is a top 10 student doing running a coffee shop?"

"I don't only run a coffee shop, I'm working on my phD, I'm going to be a college bible professor. The coffee shop is just paying for school and necessities."

"So future Dr. Mason, how did I not know this and how long till you finish?"

"2 semesters and I haven't mentioned it, I don't tell employees everything." He teased with a small laugh towards the end.

"Did you really just go there? That's worse than friend-zoning someone! You pulled the boss card!"

He burst into laughter as I got out to get Kai.

Levi's P.O.V.

"Hi Mr. Levi." Kai said as he got into his car seat.

"Hey Kai, where's your mom."

"Talking ms. Courtney."

"Oh, okay, did you have a good day?"

"No, I got in trouble. Ms. Courtney tell momma too."

"That's not good, oh look here's your mom."

"Hezekiah! Why on earth did you attack Jude? You busted his lip!" Charity fumed as I drove towards their house.

"He made me mad!"

"I don't care if he made you mad, Kai you can't hit people!"

"Yes, I can!"

"Oh really? I told you not to, therefore you can't."

"I don't like you momma."

"Then go find a momma you do like."

It's kind of awkward sitting there driving as your girlfriend argues with her child, especially the direction that it went.
